Offered $65k+Super - Full-Time Job in Sydney (Worth It?)

Hello, hope you all are well.

I have never worked full-time in Australia. I have always worked on casual basis or on ABN. My current job is casual with full-time hours. It pays me $30ph + super ($24ph after tax). I have been offered full-time job in Sydney with $65k+super in package (that obviously includes some leaves etc).

I want to know how much will be my monthly and weekly salary after tax with $65k+super package. This is a stupid question, but I really need to make a decision quickly and see if this job is worth it.

Thank you all for your help.

Cheers.

  • it really depends on your circumstances doesn't it.
are you doing it tough making ends meet ? in which case a cashflow reduction of 100 could be financially taxing?
are you looking to get a mortgage where a FT position is much more desirable for loan servicing?
are you looking for more money per week in the pocket or use this job as a springboard to progress your career

we need answers to the above before anyone can give you any relevant advice

  • 65000÷52 weeks÷40 hours a week is $31.25 an hour. So pays more than your current job.

If its 37.5 hours a week in the APS its $33.33 an hour.

Looks like its more than you currently make, plus sick leave and annual leave.

    Take the job.

Short answer - take the full time job. Higher rate of pay per hour and you get annual leave + sick days paid with a full time role. This is assuming similar hours and no overtime in both scenarios.

    • Plus, you're likely to get a loan.

  • +2

You got anything better atm ?

  • If it's your first full time job, I'll assume it's a junior role. $65k sounds like a good entry wage to me.

  • Take it. The world is a crazy place right now and it'll give you some stability. $65k is a good salary all round to start off with.

  • In the present environment any job offer is a good one

    And NO!
    Sydney is no longer expensive
Its now one of the cheapest places to live
