The Lenovo online retail store is selling this laptop for $2339 with the EOFY coupon. If you have an edu email, you can reduce the price even further to $1970.1 with the EOFY coupon at the Lenovo education store.

The advantages I see with this laptop over what is out there is the:

  1. High performance 8 core/16 thread AMD Ryzen CPU that is much more power efficient then recently released competitor products.
  2. 130W 3060
  3. 165hz, 300 nits, Full HD display with 100% sRGB colour gamut
  4. 80wh battery
  5. 1 Year Premium Warranty
  6. This laptop can also support a second NVME SSD.

If you want to compare CPU performance you can have a look at Passmark:

  • Cheaper on ebay with the afterpay coupon isnt it?
Unfortunately the Lenovo education store doesnt offer extended warranty…1 year only……..deal breaker for a $2000 laptop for me, I just cant justify it

    • +1

Afterpay doesn't work because it says your order must be less then $2000

      • Oh thats true…my bad - but I did spend time having a chat with Lenovo to try and add on warranty….nope, wouldnt do it, even though you can customise the other option…and add it there….just not against the pre-built option

        • I also don't know where you get the idea that Lenovo education store doesn't offer extended Warranty. I bought a S540 from there and obtained 2 year extended warranty.

          • @shellshocked: Try it - there is no option to choose anything except the 1 year premium against the prebuilt one

            • @Encify: I just used this link, entered my serial number and it gave me options to extend my warranty. There was a 15% discount on warranties at the time so I used it.

              https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/warranty-upgrades

              • @shellshocked: Ah - after you bought it….no guarantee it will be there once delivered?
Or is it ongoing - I feel like I have asked this on another deal before haha

                • @Encify: It's on going. There is no 15% off deal at the moment, but I just enter my serial number and the option to extend my warranty even further is available.

                  • @shellshocked: But then I need to buy a new 2tb nvme hdd since it doesnt take any 2.5 ssd sizes :)
At least all the price jacking on eBay finished….stupid prices before - more like 5% saving on the EOFY coupon…….ahhhh, I was ready to say no again and now Im talking myself into it again

              • @shellshocked: Thanks for the link OP. Just tried it then but received the message "Tips : There are no available warranty offerings, but you can purchase Smart Performance to optimize your system performance."

When I ordered it a few weeks ago I asked chat about extending the warranty and they said it wasn't available with this particular model - could only select one year premium. Used my CC for the extra year warranty. However, chat also mentioned I should receive an email offer to extend warranty closer to the end of the 1 year premium warranty. It was a good price - even better than the offer back in March/April so went with it :)

    • +1

You can extend the warranty anytime with lenovo.

    • +1

It was part of the eBay PEOFY 20% (max $300) that finished yesterday unfortunately, making it $1949

  • +7

Try going through their livechat. I was able to get it for $1885 with a mouse pad this morning for a friend.

    • +2

Thanks, managed to get it for $1872 at the moment…cant say no to that.
5th time trying to get someone who would give a bit more discount due to the warranty stuff.
Offsets the costs of the new 2tb nvme drive I will need for my games.

      • How did you get it for that much?

        • Asked nicely for a further discount on the model # (didnt say the price) due to 1 year warranty being provided for a $2000 laptop and if I can get extended warranty once I received it, etc.

Trust me though, Ive tried a few times over the last two-three days - work account, student account, normal account.
Yesterday $1950 was the best deal I could get ($20 off current student/work price)

So was surprised/happy I got it per Kaotic's try.

      • Will a 2TB NVMe work? I need to get one too but specs say: Up to 2 x 1TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0x4 NVMe

        • +1

Should…the stories go that it mentions 1TB because thats what they can be configured with for storage from Lenovo.
But I havent found anything concrete yet to say yes/no

Shall find out in a few days, if not, will lose it because who buys a gaming laptop where you can only use a 1TB drive in the slot?????

        • +4

          I have a 2TB 980 Pro in my Legion 5 Pro.

        • +2

          Can confirm the 2TB works

could you please share the order number so that sales rep will match the price?

  • For those looking for a bigger screen, the 17.3" is going for $144 more.

  • +1

got it 1871 via live chat

    • +2

Tried 3 different agents, 2 didn't budge off the $1970 education store price, the 3rd offered $1949. So not much luck there.

Edit: Nevermind! Went back to Lenovo chat, showed them my earlier quote for $1949 and told them "my friend bought the same this morning for $1871". The agent then offered to match the same price (for some reason she said $1872 though, so that's what I got).

P.S. Unfortunately they seem to have sold out of the pre-built Legion 7 today, before I could buy one. They only offer customised ones with a 6-8 week shipping time. Otherwise that would have been my pick.

  • At the moment I appear to be unable to add to my warranty though. So you need to wait a few days for it to go through systems?
