  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 GAMING OC 10GB GDDR6X RGB LED Graphics Card - $2199

    Damn..
what was this price before pandemic?

    • +5

      Wasn't available before the pandemic

      • i meant 3080

That was not available or just this card?

        • +1

3080 was released in September 2020

          • @ln28909: yeah well what was the price back then?

            • +3

              @pinkybrain: Not $2199

              • +2

@Master Bates: Curious how much the prices have increase on these cards since COVID…

At $2199 for just a GPU is riddiculous.. and this is just the 3080 not a TI version etc..

Can buy ps5 and a decent PC for $2199…

                  • +12

                    @ln28909:

                    $2199 is not much honestly,

                    honestly?
you either got too much cash or just nuts if you think $2199 is not much..

                    This is ozbargain..
                    people +vote on a $2 cashback or a 50c big mac..

You should hand back your ozbargain badge..

government have dump so much money into the population

                    So what..
People still need to pay for other jack up goods and services
                    and bills..

Also who wants to feel rip off paying $2199 for GPU..
when it was like $1300 on launch date..

                    • -2

@pinkybrain: people trying to get those $2 cashbacks are just wasting their time, I used to do that in the past but it's not worth it anymore

Food and drinks have stayed at pretty much the same price, we're in a lockdown anyway so no travelling anywhere, no big deal to spend a few k on a gpu

If you didn't want to feel rip off from past prices, you should have bought them at launch when it was only slightly inflated, your loss

                  • @ln28909:

$2199 is not much honestly, government have dump so much money into the population

Where's my share of this government money?!

Let me grab my crystal ball…

            • @pinkybrain: divide by 2

    • +1

The Gigabyte 3080's were going for $1300-1500 typically around release (if you could get one) if that's what you're asking

      • yeah.. so wondered how much COVID and mining has done to increase the price..

$900 to 699 is quite alot..
could buy or build another pc or get a ps5 with that saving…

Not a good time to build/buy a PC right now..
Not sure how long before we get back to pre covid price..

        • Not sure how long before we get back to pre covid price..

2023 and probably not as low as pre-COVID because people are willing to pay the higher prices.

          • +1

            @Master Bates: depends really..

all about supply and demand.. like anything in life e.g.. petrol..

When there was pandemic and lockdown last year oil dropped in price to one on the lowest in year..
cos of too much supply and not enough demand..

Also the miners are also a factor nowadays..
which increases the demand (and those people less likely to care about the higher price GPU) than average gamer..

Guess just gotta wait and see..

    • I was in the waitlist for the EVGA RTX3080 FTW3 card for $1230+$30 shipping (from PLE computers) when RTX3080 was first released. I ended up cancelling my order and getting the money back in January this year

      • ouch

      • It was a heck of a wait. I ordered mine on launch night and it took about 3.5 months

  • For me shipping is 12

Intel Core i7-11700KF or K variant?

    Link shows K.

  • +2

obligatory: RIP me who bought the Rm850x @ 200bux last year thinking it was 'cheap'

  • What is the difference with the Corsair PSU RM850 vs RM850x?

    • I'm also interested to know… As far as I can tell, the X has braided cables vs standard cables in the non-X version.

    • +7

RM850x (2018): Japanese capacitors, better fan, braided cables.
      RM850 (2019): Modern standby support

RM850x (2021): A newer fan (supposedly better), modern standby support added

It comes down to whether you buy into the modern standby hype for "desktop" and that you simply cannot wait for 2021 version or you believe it will cost a lot more. On laptops, some people dislike it (because when it doesn't work right, it is annoying and drains battery). While you might like some of the hyped up features, it still doesn't change the fact that Microsoft decides when to wake up the laptop (even in low power state). Also, it is not just flip a switch to swap between the two modes. You are meant to re-install the OS. Intel NUCs supporting modern standby has it default to disabled.

      • Thanks. Better capacitors makes my choice the X model.

  • I paid $139 for the RM550X a few months back in Amazon Aust. should have waited…

  • If we buy today and get the stuff delivered next week, can we claim the deduction for either year, or it must be this year because the invoice date will be presumably today?

EDIT: Got the answer from ATO community website. It must be this year if both the invoice and the payment are made today.

    • If not this year then you can deduct next year. The net effect is insignificant :) happy shopping

    • +1

This only matters if you are claiming immediate deduction (under $300). Otherwise you're only claiming it for a day this tax year.

  • Edit: found my answer

  • Is the Cyberpower UPS a good deal?

    Usage:
    PC (850W, 6800XT, 5900X),
    Dell S2721dgf monitor,
    NAS,
    Router.

  • Actually half-decent prices for the 3070 and 3080.

  • MX master price seems pretty good, about time to pull the trigger on this mouse I guess

  • The Corsair RM850x 80+ Gold PSU price hasn't updated… is it still coming?

Edit: Ah, I had to add it to the cart.

  • the 3080 still showing $2799?

    • Try adding it to cart.

      • ah i see, shows 2199 now
