STA is having a Europe sale with the cheapest flight from Sydney to Barcelona with Emirates at only $1,099 (Student/Youth)! This sale is for the July peak period. For non student/youth travellers, there are also some other decent price sales on that page.

I paid $2,700 last year to fly Emirates to Europe and Qantas back, so this is a massive price drop compared to last year. You'll find it hard to get it cheaper to travel with a great airline during a peak travel period.
Apparently you can also buy it at a branch - so not just an online sale.

A few of my friends have already bought their tickets. I would definitely take it up again if I had the money, but alas as a uni student, that isn't something I have a lot of (and hence the reason I'm on here). :p

      I think they do. Plus I think you might need to get an ISIC card as well - although they chucked it in for me last year. But maybe give them a call? I really can't remember what they checked last year.

      It seems you can also get the discounted rate if you're 26 and under (but not a student) and have an International Youth Travel Card (IYTC) instead of the ISIC: http://www.statravel.com/student-exclusive-tickets.htm

        You don't need the International Youth Travel Card (IYTC) if you're under 26 - Just verifying your age based on your passport is good enough for them :)

    If this is the price during "peak travel period", does it mean prices will be even lower for dates outside that period? I think not… :(

    Nice price! Previous cheapest I saw was when China Southern had their $1075 return from Syd-Amsterdam fares on Zuji which expired end of Jan, and it's now back up to $1295 return

      Disregard it's working now. How do they confirm whether you are a student or not? If you're part time will it still work as long as you've got an email address and student id?

          Most student cards are valid until March, so if that is the check they do, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

          If you do buy the ticket and for some reason they do say that you don't qualify, what happens then? Do they refund you? Do they give you credit only.. Argghh!!!

    Booked 2x tickets for my girlfriend and myself. I booked on the phone because we didn't have the IYTC yet and they were happy to take the booking for the same price as online.
