looks interesting, replacement refills aren't much anyway
Cleaning with isopropanol also improves performance of blades.

Depends on the type of blades you using, as not everyone is using the cheap refill type

Agree, can still keep them clean regardless.

The last few times the mech has been replacing with generic whole unit blades (not just the rubbers), typically $30-40 on ebay. Seems like a bit of waste, so would actually prefer the rubbers for $5-10. Have recently purhcased some Bosch Aerotwin blades for ~$50, apparently officially you can't refill them but have seen videos of people doing it. Keen to know which ones to use though.

Guess since the pandemic isopropanol prices are pretty inflated, I've still got a small 125mm diggers spray bottle that is lasting me for years just for general applications.

        • Avoid the Diggers bottles for IPA and find a local cleaning/chemicals supplier. I got a gallon of 99% delivered for $30 about 3-4 years ago. Only used about 1/4 of it so far using it for my car and around the house diluted 1:1.

          • @phamaroo: why is that, have had this for 10y or something but will keep in mind when i need more ;)

            • @G-rig: I mean if people pay what they charge then there's no need for them to lower the price.

I refused to buy it knowing how cheap and available it is in other countries like the US, until I found a local supplier where I ended up buying it from.

      • How much difference in quality for the actual rubber bits (ie 'cheap' vs 'expensive')? Pretty standard size I imagine if one wanted to refill their wipers, aren't you mostly paying for the wiper assemblies?

Bunnings are selling isopropanol for $9.20 / 125 ml
    That’s $73.60 per litre
Can I use a drop of vodka instead?

  • Luminous Car Temporary Parking Card

    What's this used for ?

    • +3

Intention is for you to display your mobile/contact phone number, should you be parked in a spot that may be blocking other car(s).

In some parking spaces (in some overseas country where space is a premium), the space will have cars packed in and if your car is in a space that is blocked, you can contact the driver(s) blocking your car with this display.

      • What if they won't move their car?

        • You go back and have another round for Korean Fried Chicken and beer…LOL.

Honestly, I've not experienced this but have seen, as a tourist.

          • @ultrawires: They usually do come and move their car, otherwise, you can call cops or take a photo and report it. Some angry people may scratch the car or puncture all your tires. Some more advanced folks may put on a barn lock on your door handle, lock it up and throw the key or chuck a few spoons of sugar into your fuel tank (very expensive to fix)

            • @masya: Still doesnt move the car tho

    • Looks like you can put your phone number on there so when you're parked in someone else's spot, they can call you to move.

  • How does replacement graphite get embedded into the rubber?

Circumcising the blade tip would only work if blade failure only due to cracking.

Finding it hard to see the value or a happy ending from this product.

wipers get smeary and stop working well when the sun has dried them out and they are torn to shit by particles on the glass.

this doesnt really fix the first problem but can help a little bit with the second. the Tip can be shaved down to restore a clean edge to the blade but you cant fix the dry, stiff rubber that prevents it from working effectively.

you are better off buying quality wiper blades and just replacing them every 18 months.

  • Try that blade refurbish..will report later. Cheers OP

    • There are reviews on utube.

All say the same thing - even in russian.

      • Save me the drudge of watching a few adverts please……does this product work yes or no?

        • No.

          • +2

            @phamaroo: Thanks
I'll put the 10 bucks saved towards some new blades, as SparesBox have 20% off them just now- use the code wiper20

  • this does not work. You cannot get a clean cut for the full length.
