  • How does solar work on a unit with a body corporate? I can imagine it's all too finicky and not worth it.

    • Also live in a Villa and wondering this. A few other units here have panels though so I image it can't be too bad.

    • It's possible, but will depend on your Strata.
Due to the roof being a common space, you will need majority/all owners to agree to it if it's only going to service your own unit.
There are some strata units that have solar installed, which is shared between everyone to offset their costs.
I don't know much about the set up but have read a couple of articles where they've managed to get it up and running.

  • I am looking at getting solar VERY soon, anyone know of a good installer in Adelaide? I don't know which brands of panel or inverter is good, either - there's a few out there!

    • Send me a PM. There is a 8kw solar + Inverter+ 6.5kw battery deal in Adelaide that I think was $5900. I'll have a look when I get home.

will be a nice place to start your search for the answers.

Ballpark pricing for a good quality solar power system using genuine Tier 1 panels, a mid-range or premium inverter and an experienced installation team as of July, 2021:

      3kW: $3,700 - $6,000
      6.6kW: $5,000 - $9,000
      10kW: $8,000 - $12,000

To be clear - the upper end prices are for top-end systems (e.g. LG/Sunpower panels with full panel level optimisation), installed by a solar 'craftsman'.

The above prices also include the discount from the solar 'rebate'.

  • What is the additional cost if your house has three phase? Is it just the cost of the more expensive inverter (~$400)?

  • +1

Definitely on my list to contact in late September or Early October.
