Sounds pretty normal for items they couldn’t secure stock. Even Amazon does this.

This was a pre-order from January that they constantly reassured would be guaranteed, even among the known supply issues. In my opinion 7 months of lying should not be considered normal, when at the time we could have all spent the money on another card elsewhere for what was a reasonable price.

      • I’ve never ordered from HN before but I’ve never seen a retailer absolutely guarantee pre-order stock. Especially known short supply items. What does that look like?

Also I presume they wouldn’t reject request to cancel and refund pre-order at any time?

        • I asked HN customer care for updates of the order after a month of purchase and they replied:

"Unfortunately there are no ETA availables from the supplier on the video cards, the dropship team will contact you as soon as the batch is in and dispatching".

I asked if there's any chance at all that the order won't be fulfilled because I would have definitely cancelled it for a refund. They replied with:

"It will be fulfilled, we just do not know when stock will arrive unfortunately".

This was enough for me to hold the order even though I suspected it wouldn't be met.
Either way, I interpreted it that it was gauranteed. After a few months and watching the market fall to pieces I held it because hey, it'd be a bargain if I actually got it.

Excuse those that held it for being a bit salty.

I’ll end up straight back in the penalty box commenting about greedy blanks buying up all graphics cards.

Looks like you'll have to buy it elsewhere then.

    • Yep. Got another AMD AIB 6800 XT on the way now. Limited black edition, a bit better look than this one.

So they have had your money since January?

      You got me!

Would they provide the refund plus the small interest that they have generated by investing a pool of money from customers? :P

  • +2

Should charge them interest for holding onto your money.
Although at the current rates it would be tiny

  • I guess that's the risk when it comes to pre-orders. You'll probably find it's in the T&C's.

  • Ok

Dell is doing this as well. Only their items arent "pre-orders" - but listed as "built to order - ships in 15 business days". Its been 2 months now and been delayed another 4.5 months. They also too have my money.

  • Oh darn…

  • +3

Next week they'll probably have the same preorder for $1999.

  • Is fair enough, take their word for it that someone has been trying to get stock of it.
