Thanks added code to the deal.

Grabbed one. Thanks. Decided to get a further 5% off thru gift card from the SmartSpending app, bringing it down to $57.80. :)

        • Never heard that app
          The app reviews seem average

I'm pretty sure this is the one I had for a few months a year or two ago, and if so, it was absolutely more than fine for me as a daily driver. I don't use much in the way of apps, Facebook, Spotify, Gmaps, KFC, and some other stuff worked absolutely fine though as you'd expect. For the price, it's a fantastic budget phone, especially for a kiddo or grandma/pa.

    Grabbed one! Thanks

  • Prefect for kids and olds

This is my main phone and it's great. It's awfully slow when taking photos, and sometimes the photos don't save, and when having multiple apps open it sometimes crashes (like spotify, strava, signal + taking a photo). While these may sound like draw backs, I think it you need a smart phone but don't really care about social media and don't need to have a high powered device, it's brilliant.

    • +4

Main phone as well. Yes the camera is slow but never had a problem saving photos.

Never had it crash as I generally only have 1 or 2 apps running at a time. Have 57 apps in total but just got into the habit of closing them from previous phones.

Yes its a little slow overall, but entirely adequate for me and at the above price, its an absolute bargain.

      • +3

Yes I don't usually have problems. But when out on a bike ride recording the ride with GPS (strava app), streaming music over bluetooth (spotify app), then it doesn't really let me take a photo. Or use signal to send a message. But I don't think this is a deal breaker, even if I think these are problems. I honestly think it's more than adequate for me. I could buy a much faster phone but don't see the point.

      • +2

oh yes, $60 for this much phone is ridiculous.

        • +1

Entirely agree, it does what I need for now.

But if the 5.4 ever gets below $150 then I reckon I would grab one.

    • Maybe try flashing a custom rom like lineagos which should make it a bit smoother

      • Not really a tinkerer, me. Ubuntu on desktop gave me headaches!

        • Clear step by step here if you need. https://www.lineageos18.com/2021/01/nokia-23-android-11-line…

100% worth it in the end if you can manage it though

          • @HeyPapito: I dunno. No disrespect, but that reads like a nonsense generic article where they've just written a generic set of instructions and just inserted 'Nokia 2.3' wherever there's an occasion to mention a particular device. Y'know those empty 'review' articles that are just affiliate link farming? Not sure why you'd do that for a linux thing. Either way, doesn't really engender much trust.

I did google lineagos after your first comment. The Nokia 2.3 isn't on their list of supported devices. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I can't imagine it would be fun if it isn't.

            https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/

            • @huggsymersh: I don't think it is worth playing with linage on this phone as it's already closer to stock Android. For the average user, the gain is probably not worthwhile. Especially considering it will stop banking, streaming apps from being officially supported.

Problems are much more likely to be a lack of ram and a weaker CPU. Aso
A suggestion to speed things up slightly, you could also try turning off or changing animation settings.

I've used this phone as a daily for a few weeks(p20 pro > 2.3 > s20 fe).I would think that you're seeing apps close due to lack of ram.

              • @ihfree: Yes, that was another concern, re streaming apps not being sorted.

I think the biggest thing for me is that the phone is slow, it glitches, it slows down, things close - but I honestly don't care! I'm actually happy with the phone. Each time the phone stuffs up, I just redirect my mind to contemplate other things.

Actually, sometimes the spotify app doesn't even stream. That's a little annoying, but it picks it up again and also, perhaps it's good to ride the bike without music every now and then.

                Thanks for the confirmation however.

  • Is it dual sim?

    • Single sim only.

Need to be very patient with these device, the Nokia 2.2 was awful

    • Yep, currently using a 2.2. Worst phone I've ever used, constantly crashes and has weird glitches.

  • +1

Very slow device had it and sold it

  • Got one. Charcoal seems out of stock. Used suncorp/aami 5% discount on top of it.

  • +1

While it’s cheap (in a relative sense), you really want to think about it: do you really need it? Spend a bit more you can get a much better device.

    • +1

What would you suggest then? (Genuine question!)

      • If you are on Optus, Realme C3 - 3GB RAM, 64GB Storage, NFC, + a processor that's 2 -3 x Faster.

        • +1

thats the problem. not everyone is on Optus. for unlocked phone…$60 is decent deal.

          • @CrypticM: True. And it also gets regular updates. Nokia 2.3 is amazing value for $60

  • Reckon it would run the DJI app? 2gb might be a bit low

  • +1

Charcoal sold out, but Sand still avaliable (nsw)

  • +2

Had one of this.. bought around $80 and regretted it… Got realme c3 for the same price and it is heaps better.. my Nokia is sitting my my drawer now collecting dust with c3 being my main phone now.

    • +1

there is a nice price difference between this and c3.

  • unbelievably slow phone. Blow my mind. thank god I only need it for receiving text messages. If you don't need it, please don't waste your money.

    • +2

i think it’s the price and what you get that is the attraction, sure you pay more and get more but for under $100 with au warranty and charger it’s better than most other options.

    • flash a custom rom. then report back about slow

  • -3

    Single SIM, pass

  • Will officeworks price match including the coupon?

  • +2

Is this model TA-1211? (If so, looks like it supports VoWifi and IPSMS on telstra)

    • Picked up one yes it is 👍

  • Do JB give a partial refund if someone bought one a week before at $129? I know they will on orders but what about a walk in purchase? Asking for a friend who has bought one last week.

  • micro usb means extremely sloooooow charging

  • Bought this phone months ago. I knew it wasn't going to be amazing, being so cheap, but it was so slow. It was lagging just to load basic apps. ie. it would freeze 5 seconds making you think it needed a hard reset, although that didnt help.

  • Amazon showing as $129 for me. What gives?

  • +1

Just picked up this phone..it's not galaxy or pixel speed. But it's decent. Not bad. Bang for buck.

  • I'm using this phone, it sux… Would buy again

  • Dare I ask…..can it play Pokemon Go?

  • Noob question if anyone could help. Reading the specs it says the phone’s on Android 9 OS. Will I still be able to update the OS to Android 10 (or higher in the future)?

    • +1

      Yes

2 years of guaranteed software upgrades and can upgrade to Android 10 from the software update page in settings whenever you want.

After 2 years when updates stop you can still install a custom rom to get unofficial updates

  • As some have mentioned the phone is slow, if you close apps after use, is this phone usable?

Intend be use for Kayo, Facebook, YouTube and internet radio, no gaming.
