Serious question: This is a great game, but after playing it around 5 times, I fear that the replay value has decreased each time?
People who own this game, how many times have you played it and how have you kept it engaging?
I personally got over it pretty quick, but i only ever played with myself and one other people - once you figure it out you can win pretty often or you get completely dumped on by bad luck. The characters you got made a huge difference on a easy win or a loss. But yeah i personally found it super repetitive after a while, i prefer games more like 'Sequence' - but in saying that i dont think board games are for me.
The base game is super replayable and has a few modifiers to make it easier or harder based on your group. I've taught it to complete newbies and regularly play it with a group who have won all 3 seasons of Pandemic Legacy, and we can still have a good time with the base game. Adjust the number of epidemics or special event cards if you need a challenge!
There's also a few expansions that can up the difficulty and and new twists and mechanics, and they're pretty modular so you can really tailor your experience if you get into the game:

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgameexpansion/137136/pandemic…As a very broad spoiler-free note, some of these mechanics will also appear in Pandemic Legacy, which is the 'campaign mode' experience for Pandemic that is honestly a complete blast if your group enjoys the base mechanics and gameplay.
There is expansion pack for the original version, which you can add extra virus and other action cards and roles.
There is even a newer version for this game which is even more expandable.
Worth mentioning also, there is other pandemic season version which is like a once off play (cause you open all the boxes and consumable and only one time use). Really fun if you have friends committed to finish the game with you.
Is the extra virus the delta variant?
The on the brink expansion really livens up the base game. We have played it heaps with that expansion. Highly recommend it.
I have played it around 20-25 times, but that is over a couple of years. Has slowly gotten stale but I definitely got my moneys worth from it - you can also look at some of the other expansions to freshen it up and incorporate some new mechanics.
