"I am offering a free 30 minute telephone and video consultation where I give you real, practical and commercially sensible legal advice." Lies. There will not be any 'advice' in this consultation. It's a fact find/data collection meeting to go away and determine the scale of advice and fee.

Not sure if I would trust a lawyer who cannot count to ten:

    From the website:

Melissa completed a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics (Financial Economics) at the University of New South Wales in 2011. Melissa was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW in 2013.

    From the title:

    Almost 10 Years Experience

My calculation says almost 8 but not 10 years!

com'n guys … do we really need to sh*t on someone that's just trying to start a business?

@MelissaTsui - I would suggest starting a couple of AMA threads on various forums - reddit, whirlpool, ozbargain, facebook, etc. You'll probably get a better response that way. I know the AMA threads about tax advice around EOFY have been wildly popular.

      Hi Salmon

Really appreciate the input! Agreed and very keen to explore these avenues. Thanks so much again

WHY YOU NO DOCTOR oh wait

I find this remark totaly racist and stereotyping the Chinese. The Mods should remove this comment.

Don't you need to collect a retainer and provide a schedule of costs, before giving actual legal advice?

Also most, if not all law firms, offer free 30-60mins consultations.

Now, Apu, Mrs. Simpson claims that she forgot that bottle of… delicious… bourbon. Brownest of the brown liquors… so tempting….. What's that? You want me to drink you? But I'm in the middle of a trial!

  • Any discounts for bikies?

Wow harsh crowd. Perhaps this is great value to the right person. Melissa has offered practical and commercially sensible legal advice - seems reasonable to me. No-one is under any obligation to continue with her. However we can see a wide range of perspectives. Clearly OzBargain filters out non-prospective clients rather well.

  • go right ahead be harsh people.. 30 minutes chat to get to know a lawyer, I just got my self a date.

    who needs tinder..

  • This is absolutely not a deal. Go to a lawyer who can provide you a schedule of costs prior to their advice. Most of these consultations are completely free and also help the lawyer to assess whether they can take your work or not. Highly sceptical of this one.

I personally avoid businesses that list a mobile phone number instead of a landline. It tells me that the business is so small, it is staffed by a single person. I also question what happens when that person is in a meeting.
From an appearance view, even if they are a single person business, redirect a land line or 1300 number ot a mobile if you need

Interested in taking on the Vic government for introducing an unethical, non factual, lie driven EV / ZLEV tax.

    1. The bill (and parliamentary discussion of the bill) repeatedly claims EVs don't pay 'anything' towards roads. EVs pay a buyer's premium, plus stamp duty premium, plus electricity, plus ongoing battery maintenance GST..all contributing to road coffers. Not all road income comes from fuel excise.

    2. A PHEV is listed under the ZLEV legislation, (but it isn't a ZLEV, ie "predominantly electric"). They pay excise, but still forced to pay (incorrectly) the ZLEV tax.

    3. State government are collecting funds from other states roads ie. Playing Federal games. This tax (like fuel excise), should be federally driven.

    4. A tax should be used to decentivise something (ie smoking), why would you decentivise EVs?

    5. The bill claims to use the tax for EV infrastructure roll out. This is not a government concern as private industry will fund infrastructure if there is EV demand.

    6. The bill is based on charges of 2c and 2.5c /km. Yet not substantiated in any way. The only wording in the charge is a 'fair amount'. Yet was voted in. Perhaps a due diligence clause (or lack thereof).

    7. This tax makes fossil fuel driving cheaper (and significantly cheaper) than EV and Hydrogen power. Is there an obligation from the governments to reduced emissions?

I just re read the description heading…not quite the general 30min legal consult I skim read it as…. Whoops!

Still a terrible bit of legislation that reminds us all that the mining and petrol companies are really in charge of the place.

Perhaps a divorce from dodgey politicians would be great.

  • what's a good proper way to sort out your will?

    • Carve it into the flesh of the beast that gave you the mortal wound.

    • I reckon the best way to sort out your "will" is to rename it "mark" so when you die your lawyer can safely say "he/she/it left a mark in this world".

      • 'he/she left a mark in our storage room'
        filthy
