  • For new customers or add an additional service on existing account. Not available for existing Optus number change plan. $44 is over priced. Optus network is not very good even at CBD.

Optus network is not very good even at CBD.

Are you even on Optus? Which CBD are you referring to?

I have all three nahir telco on 4G and Telstra is the one that falling behind, Vodafone is average and Optus is the fastest.

The same applies to 5G between Optus and Telstra.

I sadly have to concur with this. I just switched to a telstra pre-paid sim after being on optus for a couple of years. At home, I used to easily get 100+Mbps with telstra, now 25Mbps if I'm lucky. Plus, when I was in remote QLD, telstra was down around 2Mbps, but optus was around 90Mbps.

The old adage of "telstra is the best network" doesn't seem to be true anymore.

This is not correct, I just upgraded my existing Optus number to this plan with discount.

      • I am on month to month choice plan, want to downgrade to this plan, unsuccessful.

      • Did you get this through Optus app? Would you mind share a screenshot? I will try to talk to them again.

      • If you upgrade from Optus prepaid you can…

I had an Optus deal from Click Frenzy 2019 which recently expired. At first there was onlly the three month free data sim deal so I got one of those and move my number to long expire prepaid. Then comes the 50% off deal so I upgrade the prepaid back to month to month.

An advance warning, if you think you are going to get superfast speed wit Optus 5G then think twice before you join. All the report of 100+ up and down is true but you have to be out door. I got once 300+down and 100+ up around the park outside my condo looking at the signal tower. When you are actually onside home or in office (non CBD) area, it goes down to around 50-80 down and 5-10 up. in CBD area speed in indorr seems to be better but have not test it more due to the lock down.

        • This is the problem, from prepaid to postpaid is available for this deal. But I tried from postpaid to postpaid was unsuccessful to get the 20% off. I got fast 5G at home indoor, but very bad connection on 3G (no 4G/5G) at office located at Sydney CBD.

Noice, good find OP, setting a 12 month reminder tho lol, don't want to pay the $55

    • Lol same!

  • Unfortunate that its for new customers or adding an additional service. Had just signed up to their small plan to use eSIM and cannot change my plan to take advantage of the discount. Oh well!

  • I was offered 25% discount, I counteroffered $29 got declined. Won't pay more than that. When I get same service from circle.life for $22

  • Wait for tonight clickfreny offer circle.life is there

  • Has anyone rang Optus lately to cancel, asking for a better deal?

  • Looks like this is now available for recontracting !

    • Can confirm that I successfully recontracted by existing service onto this plan.

  • Has anyone managed to get this from outside NSW? I tried, expecting it to be an easy negotiation especially as I'm moving from Telstra, but got stonewalled.

    • Not sure why it’s Nsw exclusive?

      • Not sure either, but was bluntly told that I didn’t qualify and when I politely asked if they could match it, I was told “no”.

        • Could you change your address to a NSW address? Eg borrow an address of a friend or relative…. then later change it back.

  • thanks op!

  • Looks like Optus has extended this offer to 22/08/21.
