LG 55LW5700 55" (139cm) Full HD Cinema 3D LED LCD Smart TV for $1395

140

Seems like a great deal on the 55inch LG LED TV. I saw a post on Ozbargain earlier but not sure if people can still get it at that price (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60892). It says Limited Stock and Delivery seems free to Brisbane and Sydney. Not tried other places.

One thing that may be worth investigating, there seems to be reports of audio / video sync issues with this and the 42" model (maybe that's why its so cheap now!). See thread below.

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1844358

    • There also seems to be confusion with local dimming on this set.

    • I feel I've got to warn people too: LG tvs do not support DTS audio (no licence) which may be a dealbreaker for anyone looking to play d/l content (uploaders of 3D content in particular seem to favour dts audio).

I number of friends and colleagues who bought LG have said that they would have gone another brand had they realised.

      Happy to be proven wrong.

Not a bad telly for the price - though from what I am reading, if you are as fussy as I am with quality of TVs I am going to err on the side of caution and give this one a miss.

Not saying its a bad telly… just saying I am very anal about quality and this one doesnt seem to match my expectations.

    • Really a neg vote for trying to inform people about the quality of the product?

    • More a personal opinion.
Of the 4 major brands this would be my choice every time.

We have been advised by LG that the 55LW5700 is a discontinued model, and as of 11.30am (EST) we currently have Limited Stock in our Sydney and Brisbane Warehouses.

    Hi,
This is good TV. But you can't run Flash Player 9 or 10. So you can not watch online movie (Hindilink4u or iwannawatch.net etc..). I have 55LW6500 and we bought in AU$ 1560.00 with BD660 player.(after -300 cash back). Its 3D is best. If you want receipt then i can upload for you.

    Thanks,

    • Most definitely yes!

Am currently searching to buy the 6500, and the cheapest price online for the 47" is 1400!

      • Hi,
You want recipt for 55LW6500 ?

        • Hi, i m about to buy this for $2100. Luckily i found your post first.
Could i pls have the copy of ur recipt?

          Thx :)

      • Hi, Any one can help me how i can upload my recipt?

        • I think u need to upload it on imageshack.us/
Then, u could post the link here :) thx in advance

    • @Manoj,
Do you mean that LW5700 can't play flash 9 and 10 while LW6500 can play flash.

      • No LW6500 cannot run flash either. I have 47" model.

      • Yes, LW5700 and LW6500 have difference is 100HZ and 200HZ. So in this model you cannot play Flash 10 or HTML 5. And even Samsung have also problem.

" The LG web browser does not support Flash 10 or HTML 5, therefore, access to certain web content may be limited or unavailable."

Purchased one this morning. There is a great thread on avsforum.com in relation to how you can use a generic remote to unlock the service menu and switch on a whole load of options including local dimming.

  • hi all for anyone uses magic remote with LG please reply my query at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1866152

    thanks

    • Yes, I use it and it is very good and it's work like normal wireless remote with more function. If it was work ok in past then try to change battery. Because it eats too much battery.
Or you can change setting form setting Manu and calibrate it.

    • Yes. I have the same problem. The picture in the manual didn't exactly match the back of my tv 55lw6500 so I just stuck it there as close as I could. The result is that the calibration is off, rather than a lag. I give it a shake, it seems to re-calibrates then it happens again. I stopped using it. I must have stuck it on wrong.

Is this really worth buying when you can get a older model LG 50PZ650 plasma for around half the price?

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1824514

    • I would rather pay twice the price for LED.
LG LEDs also comes with 3yr warranty std (afaik) against the plasma 1yr.
As my Panasonic $2500 plasma recently hemorrhaged itself after very minimal use during its almost 4yrs I can guess why the difference in wty offered with the 2 styles.
