    Showing $49 for me.

EDIT: You need to select a store for the price to update.

    • well thats odd. bigw site is a bit shit?

      • +2

It is for stock levels, on two occasions I've gone to a specific Big W store because the site said they had stock. The first time the Big W employee looked for the item and spent some time looking out the back and didn't find any. He checked on their internal stock system and a store that on the website was showing as having no stock had stock.

Another time I went to a store that was out of the way as they had stock of the item, they did actually have stock this time. When I went to the store closer to home that was reporting as having no stock, for other things the next day they had the exact item in stock that was reporting as being out of stock in that store.

I've also had several online orders cancelled as they were out of stock even though the site was showing it as in stock and allowed me to order it.

Kmart is just as sucky in terms of how accurate the stock levels are on their website

  • how did you get it down to $25 thanks

Bought 3 feel much safer now

still a bad choice and kmart is the go to. The shoe doesn't cover the ankle.

    • +2

Depends on the job I guess, protects the toes at least.

As an engineer than it is not recommended.

        • +3

As a design engineer who needs steel capped, enclosed shoes to walk around a suburban street on a site visit for "safety compliance", this is perfect.

Also I like volleys for weight lifting so these will probably be good for that despite the steel toe.

Roofers love these as they're really grippy on roofs and they don't have ankle supports. Roof carpenter mate of mine says ankle support sucks when your feet are at almost any angle but horizontal for much of your work day. It puts pressure on your tendons and causes inflammation.

Good for the gym, maybe? Drop the weights on your foot as much as you want.

      • Drop the weights on your foot as much as you want.

        yeah nah. dont do that.

    • Designed for roof work.

  • Cheers OP ;)

Bought two, and got free standard shipping ("Apparel free delivery promotion").

From what I understand, shoes are sold as a pair, ie., you get 2 shoes for the 1 price… so if you 'bought two' and only receive the one pair then return and repurchase the pair as a complete set.

  • Are these good for dancing in?

    • +5

depends if you have a heavy partner…..?

      • User profile photo checks out?

    • Does your partner continually step on your toes? If so, then yes.

  • Are these good for everyday casual wear? There are a couple of pairs in my local BigW store but it is very heavy when I went to pick one up. Never worn steel toe'ed sneakers before but its cheap and free protection, just not sure about the weight.

    • They're steel toed – they are heavy, I wouldn't wear them daily.

I will say though that these are awesome – I wore two pairs for a few years. Absolutely put them to the sword a few times and they handled it.

if you dont need steel toe why bother

        they have their uses

for say a forklift driver = yes

for any hard construction = hell no

for any wet work = are you dumb

for any corrosive substances = do you like keeping your feet not injured

    • +1

Skip the gym and just wear these instead?

Also good if you ever get into a spontaneous brawl over toilet paper at the supermarket and need to literally kick some ass.

Sweet. My bogan halloween costume is now complete.

    • Your profile pic says otherwise. Or have you found a bargain on mullet wigs?

      • +1

Are you truly 'Strayan without a mullet wig? Came with my citizenship certificate.

        • To hide the lobotomy scar right? Mine's starting to show now that my hairline has receded.

        • they also hand you a pack of winnie blues and a wife beater shirt.

          • +1

@xoom: Of course no Aussie would ever use the term "wife beater" so I think we've found the infiltrator.

Perfect for MTB to protect from rock strikes etc

  • -7

Not really a bargain, when you can get Australian made Rossi boots for $70 posted on ebay

    • $25 vs $70

      hmm

  • mechanic friend of mine wore these for a while and hates them. they're not as heavy as typical steel-capped, non-boot work shoes but not as comfortable.

    • what brand does he prefer?

      • +1

he wore Mongrels for a few years. but they don't make the style he liked any more, so now he just buys whatever he likes the look and fit of at the workwear shop.

last time he tried on some shoes and the store assistant told him they were "women's shoes" b/c it had some purple on it. he didn't GAF and bought them anyway :D

  • No size 13? :(
