  • is TCL slow?

    • I've never found mine slow over the last few months i've owned it 🤔 Always quick to turn on, responsive using the remote and voice controls if thats your thing

      • which model you have ?

I wonder if 75P715 is slow or not

The base level Android TV from a year or two ago (P8M?) was incredibly slow to start - like 20-30s. It must have been loading Android before it did anything else, and doing it in an underspec system. There was an option to start in 'dumb' mode that should have been faster, but kind of defeats the point of a smart TV.

Was actually seriously considering it until the chap at TGG demonstrated the boot time. Genuinely stunned how bad it was.

But I think the models above, even then, were okay. Assume specs on current models are better, but worth a trip to a store to test I guess. Well, when such things are allowed again.

    • C815 startup is definitely faster than the previous C8 model.

  • God damnit! I literally just bought this yesterday at full price…

      How is it?

Very good actually. I was a bit bummed I missed out on the Samsung deal which was posted right after I put in my order with JB. But after looking at a few reviews of the Q70A, it seems like the C815 might be better?

Anywho I’m just slightly disappointed that I paid the full price on it lol :(

Where did you buy it from? See if they will provide you the cash difference. If it's within 14 days, I rekkon you'll be right to get a refund. Most of the big retailers are pretty good like that - as always, if you don't ask, you don't know.

          • @goldiep: Funnily enough, at JB. In fact, I even see they're offering free delivery now with TV purchases and I paid $59 to get mine delivered LOL, just my luck.

I just got off the call with a manager at the store and they mentioned that due to the lockdown right now there's not much they can do but to take a screenshot and come back into the store when it's possible, and they'll honour the price and refund the difference.

I did mention that I think the sale is today only and he did say that it should be fine. Fingers crossed that he still remembers the phone call when the lockdown is over!

Waiting for the 95" to go under $1k, thanks though.

  • Been hanging out for a deal on this TV, but unfortunately no stock available near me and "delivery unavailable" 😔

I was waiting too but pulled the trigger on the TCL X915 deal from last month. Love it - has Android TV, so very quick to boot. Performs great so far

Note this unit has a built in soundbar made by onkyo + rear subwoofer .
not bad sound for a standard set.

Feel a bit ripped , paid $2450 a year ago.

Possibly runout model hence discount pricing

  • How do you get 20% off? And is it storewide or just TV's?

  • So I've only just found watching footy bareable on a 42" Pana (on HD channels). Couldn't stand it when the cameras were still 576p. Curse of having good vision!

Just looking now and the "HD" channels are still just 1080i.

Footy on a friends 65" Samsung looked pretty ordinary, Would be terrible on a 75" I would think? Guess there is upscaling, but that's still a blur type thing. So do you use a 75" for 4K only?

Also, energy bill must take a hit going for a 75"?

P.s. Viewing distance is about 4 Meters.
