omg so tempted………. all of them………

    • +2

Yeah, best of the pick imho

  • +1

I like the Bulova. Are you guys wearing those or are these just collection watches never to be worn? Just curious.

    • +2

      wear em

they are like nice cars… drive 'em

      the bulova is calling me

the reason its cheap is that its not the steel bracelet one

i'm concerned how big it is

i have an eta 7750 watch and its 42mm and 13.5mm thick and at 45mm this could be too much

      • +5

Forget the diameter… the lug to lug length is 52mm so it wears very large. Such a shame as it's excellent in so many other regards.

        • THIS, check lug to Lug measurements before diameter as lug to lug Makes a bigger difference to how it wears than diameter

        • +1

But you're meant to wear it with a space suit….

    • +8

These are definitely watches to wear. If you're collecting as some sort of speculative investing, mass produced watches like the Bulova and Citizens mentioned above will not retain or appreciate in value.

    • I wear my Bulova regularly (not at work - I'm in the trades) which is the same model as shown here with the black leather band and the commemorative box with the spare nylon strap. It's too nice a thing to keep in a box

I consider my nice watches as jewellery. Really, they're less functional than a phone or a smartwatch. I use a Garmin Vivosmart 4 at work which is slimline, non-conductive and has basic smartwatch functions, plus I don't care if it gets dinged up a bit.

    • +2

Anything that you can buy without seeing a broker or going on a waiting list is for wearing

    • If you own a Rolls Royce and it sits in a garage never driven, do you REALLY own it?

Watches really should be worn, especially those with mechanisms powered by use.

  • +2

Thanks OP. Any chance you can convince them to do one for female dress watches? Preferably Citizen Eco drive or Seiko :)

  • Pity no tuning fork on Bulova face.

    • +2

It's paying homage by using the logo from the original watch.

  • Anyone know who stocks Bulova watches in Melbourne?? I really want the Lunar Pilot but I'm a bit concerned that it might look too big.

  • +1

Oooh I like the lunar pilot
Shame it's a Quartz, would have been perfect if it was an auto

  • Saw the Citizen Promaster Auto NY0085-86 while perusing Starbuy last night.. is this an ok watch? Reviews seems iffy especially on the bracelet.

Not a watch aficionado by any stretch.. but want to give an auto a try again..

    Thanks!

    • +1

This one would be my pick of the bunch. It has a lot going for it. Also has hand winding though no hacking. The bracelet is probably fine, but you can also replace it with a 20mm strap.

  • +1

The bl8153 is a gorgeous watch

  • Been spying the Bulova 98A186 for a while now, prefer the all black look, makes it appear minimal on the wrist considering its actual size. Shame code doesn't apply there :(

  • Nice watch. Battery will need to be changed approx every 18 months though.

    • Do you have to take the Bulova anywhere special to change battery, will the mall guys butcher the watch?

      • The watch tool provided will probably do the job.

  • +1

Thanks for the post watch nerd, picked up the Seiko alpine thanks to your post last time, so many compliments.

Guys any thoughts on the Citizen Eco-Drive BL8153-11A?

Clean looking watch and looks like a steal a $250

    • +1

Very good price. I would have jumped on it if I didn't already have a nice watch

    • +1

Looks great. Can’t think of anything bad about it!

  • +2

Would jump on the black version if the Bulova Lunar if it was on sale.

  • Would have loved a deal on the metal bracelet version of the Bulova moon watch .. 96b258.

    • Not sure why the metal bracelet version is so popular. It looks like an afterthought and doesn't even match the finish on the watch. I didn't notice until I watched a few reviews a while back now I can't unsee it.

  • I have read the bracelet version allows easy interchange to nato/ leather straps .. you can't actually(easily ?) put a steel bracelet etc. back on this 96b251 model though.

    • +2

I think it's the other way around. The bracelet version has lug holes closer to the body so you can't use a strap unless you use curved spring bars and using a bracelet on a strap version you get a bigger gap between the bracelet and watch body or something like that.

  • would of been great if all of the Lunar Pilots could have the coupon applied to

  • I love the Bulova precisionist movement, smooth sweep seconds of a high end auto, with quartz accuracy and longevity. But the current range of Precisionist models don't grab me, they look tacky I reckon.

  • +3

You're an absolute legend. Thank you. Been waiting on a good price for a Lunar Pilot and I'm thrilled to have bought it. The king samurai in white is also on sale - also a great watch. Very thrilled to have purchased it - my wife is going to actually kill me. How do I break it to her?

  • Anyone know if Starbuy have a generic 5-10% off code? Eyeing off an Oris and wouldn't mind an extra discount on top.

  • Where are citizen watches made?

  • Citizen Nighthawk BJ7135-02E for $279 is very good as well.

  • +1

The Lunar reminds me of my vintage Omega Speedmaster from the mid 70s which I bought new. Classic look.

  • +1

was after something else not on this list, but part of the weekend clearance: https://starbuy.com.au/citizen-eco-drive-bm8475-34e stealthy, yet readable and great lume going by youtube reviews.
then remembered that i'd already bought 5 watches the past week, including this automatic, titanium Citizen NJ2180-89H (using the $15 off voucher they regularly send to inactive accounts) which i'd missed out on before.

  • How long does Starbuy usually take? I ordered on the 19th and haven't seen an update…

    • +1

Maybe you missed the lockdown in Sydney… Shooting them an email is probably the best way to find out.

    • Deepak's probably swamped with ozbargainers' orders. i've never not received an order from Starbuy (and i've made 8 orders so far). they've been a little bit slower to ship out in the past few weeks but like lesterfreamon said, there's lockdown to consider as well.

      • Thanks. I got the order confirmation email. All good
