Doesn't look like it has any drainage, wouldn't use it for Orchids. Maybe broms would do well in it. Also, not sure how many plants would like to have sunlight on their roots either, yeah probably is fro broms in that case.
Yeah… Like doesn't photosynthesis happen at the leaves? I'm not sure nature intended roots to want sunlight, otherwise the roots would grow upwards?
