Getting Spam Messages after The Good Guys Giveaway

*Edit - It was 'Good Guys' giveaway.

Hey guys, Remember that Harvey Norman's Giveaway post. Now i am getting spam messages and mails after that. Random WhatsApp messages.
Messages that 'you are 2nd in giveaway' and 'Earn $50 from home' and what not.

Anyone else who participated facing this?

Either Harvey Norman sold enties data to third parties or they are hacked.

Since when does HN do give-aways…? Are you sure it was a legit post?

    • To be honest i don't even remember now if it was harvey norman or David Jones. But it was in forums only.
I tried to find any mail but couldn't.

  • That's what Gerry was really giving away: scam messages.

I am getting swamped with spam messages claiming I have won prizes from the likes of Telstra, Woolworths, Bunnings, JB HifFi and numerous other Aussie companies.

They all emanate from a sender " …[email protected]" The xx varies with each message so I cannot use my spam filer to block the domain from where the messages are sent.

    • If you're in gmail, you can create a custom filter and add "wawa-email.com" in the "from" section. That will catch all subdomains of wawa-email.com. Set the action to delete or spam.

      • or just hit the "report spam" button on the emails. It'll learn.

If it doesn't learn, then do the custom filter route.

I got a weird spam message about working from home too. But I didn't enter any Harvey Norman giveaways.

I get scam calls the next day everytime after an order at Pizza Hut… coincidence?
If I don't order (or use a fake phone number), I don't get a scam call the next day.
I don't mind, as I just pretend to be an old grandpa who has no idea how technology works and waste their time. My current record is 26 minutes lol
