5% Cashback at Apple Education Store via Cashrewards (Exclusions Apply)

451

Very good price for the iPad Air 4 64GB. Don't see the point in paying an extra $350 for the M1, especially since no Cashback eligible on that.
Picked one up for next semester, blows the iPad Pro 2020 out of the water in single-core and Metal, except for multi-core.

64GB is more than enough, especially with the type-C port. 120Hz and Face ID honestly just luxuries at this price point.

Stay safe and healthy!

  • If I order m1 ipad + magic keyboard, would I get cashback on the keyboard?

    Ummm, yes. Compared to what?

"120Hz and Face ID honestly just luxuries at this price point"
I beg to differ with you on this point. Once you taste Face ID on iPad, there is no going back.. :)
120hz promotion does make a difference when gaming, not that I game much.

Anyway, congratulations on purchase, very good price with cash back indeed, I always buy from Education store as well but with cash back it's pretty good deal!

If you're a designer/UX person the 120hz and pencil 2 is absolutely a must if you can afford it. Plus the M1 is more future proof, but for general purpose use only the air is a fantastic device.

    • One thing that bugs me is that I always hold the iPad over the camera, so it doesnt work. Also, since FaceID works in multiple orientations on the iPad, so why cant it work on landscape on the iphone.

  • Happen to have an edu.au email but not the student card, so can I still buy from the education store? If i buy online, when and how do they check the student ID?

    • They don’t. You just need to check a box.

      • +1

They sometimes do. Has happened to a family member.

  • Why is 8th gen iPad not eligible…it's been available for ages

Email from CR says up to 10%

Up to 10% off Apple Store for Education

Did anyone manage to get more than 5%?

    • +2

I think that 10% is the general discount Apple gives at the education store.

There’s in iPad Air here for 799 if you don’t have edu may come in handy

    • +2

Bro they charge $75 for shipping.

      • +1

Holy crap never mind lol what a ripoff and I’d prefer to buy from Apple too thanks for your info

  • +8

    120 Hz (+ brighter screen) + M1 (2x performance cores, 2x graphics cores) + FaceID + improved front-facing camera + Thunderbolt 4 + double the RAM + double the storage + double the speakers

The additional $350 asking price is not unreasonable imo. Since most people keep their iPads for years, why not spend a little bit extra now to have a better experience going forward?

    • +1

Buy nice or buy twice :)

  • So I don't have education anything and I was allowed to get all the way to checkout with no student verification. I'm using it for business. So how could they possibly track I'm not a student if they didn't ask for information?

    • They can't.

  • +1

This was $769 at Good Guys and JB HiFi a few weeks ago. Combined with a discounted gift card, that beats this deal easily, and no waiting for cashback either.

  • Don't forget it can be used with (discounted) iTunes credit too.

    • +1

how do you get discounted credit?

    • As far as I can tell: if you get an iTunes gift card & redeem it so that it adds to your Apple ID balance, you can then use that Apple ID balance to pay for physical products on the apple website, as long as "apple gift card" is listed as a payment method option… Is anyone able to confirm? Thank you.
support.apple.com - "Redeem your App Store & iTunes Gift Card"
support.apple.com - "What you can buy with your Apple ID balance"

    • But where to get discounted iTunes credit?

You used to see 15% off all the time, but I feel like I haven’t seen it in ages.

I do wonder whether it might be related to this change - if you can buy physical products with the credit not just apps and movies and whatnot then do the discounts dry up?

      • +1

Yes. But you can still get some discounted iTunes cards for 6%. Nowhere near what it used to be (and glad I had stocked up a few hundred before) though.

Apparently in the US when they enabled iTunes credit for physical purchases at Apple Stores they stopped seeing discounted iTunes credit in stores too.

    • Just checking, I bought many AppStore gift cards when they were 20% off, and they add as “balance” on my iTunes account, but I don’t think I can use that balance to pay for hardware right?

      • You can. That's the marvel of it.

  • ipad pro all the way. Faceid and butter smooth 120hz.

  • Might get an iPad Pro

  • What's the most discount that anyone here has gotten on a Macbook Pro M1?

Need to know when I should bite 😊
    (not a student)

    • +1

I'm sure there are better deals but I did it recently with the 10% off @ JB Hifi/Good Guys, and 10% off HIM gift cards, and used some of my saved up Flybuys/Coles Financial Services to pay for those gift cards.

      • Thanks. I might wait and do similar. Although I can't wait much longer… My 9 year old Macbook Pro is so hard to work on now! Fingers crossed for something within the next month

        • Given how long you hold onto your Macbooks, may as well wait to see what 14/16 inch Macbook Pros and see if they meet your needs.

          • @jace88: I'm not waiting because I want a 13" Macbook Pro and I've waited long enough!

    • They were $1699 at HN a few weeks ago

Opportunity would be to price match at JB and use HIM gift cards

In saying that a new model is imminent so probably best wait

      • Not the model that I want wasn't - mine is only available from Apple.
        I've waited long enough.
Anything is better than what I have now!
        And nothing wrong with M1

  • I'd be careful trusting Cashrewards with big purchases, as if the retailer doesn't want to pay up they won't do anything, even if you've got literal click through records. Their guarantee isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

    • I would say the above caveat applies more to SB than CR.
I have never had a single issue with cashback from Apple through CR.

  • So if I need an iPad for my kids is this a good options?
