          I downloaded it last night and it was clear at that time that this was a free multiplayer only weekend offer.

          Ohh I forgot to say, if I were you I'd probably wait till Sunday to buy from a CD key store. Some might see the Steam sale then discount their prices of MW3 so you'll be able to pick it up even cheaper.

        Make sure you don't get a Russian key. Otherwise you'd have to manually patch it every time there's an update.

          Russian keys fine now since they have built in English files now but requires you to use the provided russian vpn which takes like 30 seconds anyway .

          I agree . Played it half a dozen times and it was just hard work . I have neither the time or inclination , This game is strickly for the hard core .

      This game is has pretty much gained platinum status already and sales are tapering…. so free weekend and DLC it is.

    I already own the game and I tried playing tonight but 26/27 games had hackers in them so no good. Seeing as people seem to be creating a new steam account just to play with an aimbot/wallhack there is no way that the banning process will ever catch up.

    Nice idea but you'll be unlikely to get any decent play in during the $0 period. Plus all the regular players get screwed over too.

    Unless something is done to prevent the cheating I'm going to find it hard to justify paying for any DLC :(

    Yes, a generous waste of time.

    1 hour to download, 30 minutes to install, 30 minutes to set up an account, 30 minutes to troubleshoot firewall/AV/browser issues (read: lose will to live), 30 minutes to find a decent server, and only 30 seconds of gameplay to find out that this game is a crock of sh*t.

      Learn for the future: often these weekend deals (including this one) allows you to pre-download the files a few days in advance of the weekend, so when the weekend rolls around you only have the 35 min to waste: 30 min to find server + 30sec of game play to find out you wasted your internet usage on nothing :p
