It was cheaper with 15% off on Ebay TGG last week. You could price match with Sony direct and get 3 yrs warranty.

    • Supposedly Costco is lifetime warranty

    • Hi Bab, how do you get 3 years warranty when buying from Sony online? Do you need to register the product with them? I can't find where on their website that states 3 years warranty.

      Cheers

      • Nothing to do. It's their standard warranty. It won't be on the invoice either but in Sony's system. You may ask one of the stores to email you 3 yrs warranty confirmation. You may call any of the physical stores to verify that I've already done though.
They don't intentionally advertise 3 yrs warranty on their site. Business tactics!

  • The Q70A is a lot better though

1000:1 contrast is atrocious and brightness of 330 nits is just not good enough for an LED in 2021.

The Q70A which sold at similar prices not too long ago has 7000:1 contrast and 540 nits brightness, just enough for HDR.

X80j is entry level for Sony, which has an okay LED range but they want to push you to their OLEDs. Q70A is mid range for Samsung and they only make LEDs at the moment.

just in case anyone was thinking it, the Australian version of the Hisense U8G is absolute shit! I regret buying it. if you want it hmu!

    • Hi sss9660 I'm seriously considering between the 75U8G and 75Q8, from spec sheet they are quite similar apart the U8G got a few more features targeting console gamers which I don't care. And the 75Q8 is slightly cheaper at the moment. Could you please share your experience on the U8G? Thanks

        Sorry for the delayed response.
        Here are some early findings:
        - This version of the tv has no 4k 120hz
        - The remote is all squashed up to the top 2 thirds of itself
        - it is easy to put together
        - the screen can be calibrated to anyones liking. There are so many options for calibration.
        - it plays media well off NTFS hard drives

i would go with the 75Q8.

        edit:
        - the OS sucks. it is not android or google tv.
        - the 75Q8 has the same OS. i would lean to something with android or google tv.

        • But aren't the only TV's with Android TV or Google TV are TCL (Android) and Sony (Google TV) …

    • I'm keen, what city are you in?
