Mod Note: New World is an upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) by Amazon Games set to be released on August 31, 2021. The game was previously scheduled to release in May 2020, but was delayed to its current date. Set in the mid-1600s, players colonize a fictional land modeled after colonial America in the Atlantic Ocean. The game will be using a buy-to-play business model, meaning there will be no monthly mandatory subscription fee.

      I think it redirects to steam? not 100% as I just bought normal digital from steam and got beta that way

    Be a dead game within 12 months
    The game is formulaic and offers nothing new for MMO players to take them form their current games.
    New MMO Players will find the requirements to play with others 100% of the time hard to deal with

    MMOs need to offer a decent solo experience and new world puts so much emphasis on group play to succeed that its likley it will have a core base of players but a very low number long term.

    It has a lot of hype due to the amount of money being thrown at streamers to play for the 2 week beta, once the game is released into the world come August it will spike like every MMO does then slowly die off.

    Its not a good game at all.

    Imagine a boring, generic MMO, then imagine they put some nice graphics and one of the best combat systems for an MMO.

    That is New World.

    I've only played the BETA from last year though but can't imagine too much can change that quickly.

    Last time I heard it, it promised no Pay2Win aspects… for the first year. They said they will implement Pay2Win after 1 year of game going live.
    I am not going to bother at all.

    Just looks like everyone other MMORPG out there

    I think WoW made me love and hate the genre or my needs have changed as I can't stand grinding anymore.
