Now ebay plus need to renew bit early 😀

  • +3

Got this along with $10 off $50 spend at CottonOn!

  • Does this stack with the $40 voucher (used to be $50) sign up?

    • +1

What they change to $40 now 😤

      • -8

To be precise they didn't change it to $40, they started a new promo with $40 vouchers. These are 2 very different things.

    • +9

      https://pages.ebay.com.au/Buyer_coupons/mplp/

If I join via this will I still get $50?

      • +3

I think this is targeted because when I click on this link, there is no mention of the voucher after clicking “Join Now”. I’m reluctant to sign up if I’m not going to get the voucher.

        • +6

So I used the link shared by sub102… Contacted eBay support… They confirmed that I will get a $50 voucher in max 7-10 days. I will let everyone know if I don't. Thanks.

          • +2

@BlazzingGun: Comments below suggested that people got it instantly

            • @sub102: Just tried this, says "We're sorry, this offer is no longer available. For more great, exclusive offers unlock eBay Plus for $4.99/mth."

Edit: Got a $40 voucher though

            • +1

@sub102: So… did not get it automatically. Had to chat with the support. Told them I have been waiting for few days. Can't wait any more as need to buy stuff. Basically asked him to cancel my membership in case I can't get a voucher. He added a $50 voucher to my account! Sweet as!

              • +1

@BlazzingGun: Ebay customer service never care or keep their promises. I had to hassle for months to get mine last year when they finally refunded. Glad you got it though but its not worth the hassle if it doesn't work automatically

              • @BlazzingGun: Did you ever have ebay plus before this, I'm wondering

              • @BlazzingGun: Same here, just be polite and chat with the support, in 2-3 days I got the voucher on my eBay. Now just waiting for the CBA $20 rebate, hopefully, they will honor the one-time payment.

              • @BlazzingGun: EBAY DID NOT HONOR $50 voucher to me, kept saying $5 monthly voucher rubbish, and so on, like they cannot do anything about it etc. they are absolute crap service

  • +10

It's probably not even with it if it were free

    • +3

Yeah, too much headache. Took me a year to use the voucher. If the order gets canned for whatever, your voucher pretty much become nothing.

  • Still less than the $30 voucher which you get while trying to cancel subscription

    • +3

Should be able to get both? I hit cancel, signed up for the voucher and now at renewing with commbank card. Should be an effectively free year now with $20 cashback and $30 voucher

      • Better just cancel it and open up new account than go for $40 voucher n cash back $20😜

        • Ah damn looks like I’m coming up $10 short 😂

      • +2

New promo gives $40 to join eBay plus. So it's $20 cashback and $40 voucher from eBay

        • Instant $40 voucher to spend on anything after you sign up eBay plus.
          * Voucher can only be used once. Valid for 30 days. $40.01 min spend.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Mine is due to renew later today :)

  • Current plus expire tomorrow, will see if eBay try to send voucher to lure me renew.

    • Don't do it brother. Instead join the darkside, sign up on Amazon Prime. :D

        • But some people likes to pee in bottles 🥲

          • @Scythic: Especially a Gatorade bottle. Or else you need extra attachment, like a funnel.

    • They will give $30 but don't take it. You can join in few days and get $40 voucher and $20 cashback if eligible

  • Oh man, mine renews on 20th, no way to pay it early..? :|

    • Would like to know this as well

    • Cancel current one and create new ebay account. If you have gmail, you can use your current email and append "+whatever" ([email protected]).
If you really want to, you can even click on close account for the first one (so you can always claim you only had 1 account - if you're worried about that).

      • I would but i'm due to get the $30 cancellation voucher already, so i was just hoping to double dip i guess. Not the end of the world but would have been nice ot get this one too!

        • I tried making a new ebay account before and they canceled it/closed it for some reason. Probably will give this deal a pass then sadly.

  • My CommBank card charges international fee since eBay Plus payment is processed overseas.

  • Is eBay plus worth it?

    • +2

If they are offering a $50 gift card, which should not conflict with this deal, them you are getting $50 credit for $29. eBay Plus isn't great compared to Amazon Prime, but having gotten it for a year I got some good deals in that time, including free $10 items if you are fast enough.

Note tho, that the credit code you get is a coupon and can't stake with any code based deals, so you might not necessarily get 100% of the coupon efficiently.

      • I was thinking of getting eBay plus to get 5% off an item, does that 5% off require a code “take at least AU XX off with EBay Plus”, does not specify just takes me to the sign up page. Don’t want to sign up for the voucher and not able to use it due to 1 coupon only

        • The voucher doesn't stack with any other codes on ebay. If ebay says take xx off, almost certain it will be with a code (which doesn't stack with a voucher).
You can stack it with discounted gift cards.

Also be careful that your voucher doesn't get applied for something smaller than the voucher amount (you will forfeit the remainder).
With a $50 voucher when you buy a $1 product and you use the voucher then $49 is gone.

You will be able to get that product and get xx off, and use the voucher on something else.
It's hard to help you further - 5% could be $2, could be $50, we don't know what your thinking of buying.

    • +1

Yes got vegimite for five cents

    • +1

There are definitely some things cheaper on eBay then Amazon, but eBay plus probably on its own is not worth it, they do have some Tuesday sales if you can get your hands on items for free before they sell out though

    • Only you can tell if it's worth it for you.
Some Tuesday deals aren't worth it - but stacking this with $50 is definitely worth it in my opinion.

      I bought 2 sodastreams (1 for $19 and 1 for $29 and they're worth +- $50-$60).
Got a few free items - which I probably would have bought for $5-$10. I bought 2 dell screens.

It was worth it for me.

    • Over 90% of my spend on eBay are for liquor from DanM or boozebud
I hate cashback deals as I tend to forget them to follow up if they don’t track. Prefer upfront discounts.
Now I can get $5 off per bottle every month at a minimum as well. DM and boozebud usually match what they have priced in their websites + with eBay plus you have free shipping.

  • +1

Perfect timing. My eBay Plus membership ends in 2 days.

  • what great deals did you guys get with ebay plus

  • +1

Can't find the link to 'Activate' the offer. Any hints?

    • check through comm app reward section. Should be listed if you're eligible. Mine does. Activate before spend from there. :)

  • How do they know that we're paying for annual fee of ebay plus, rather than just spending on ebay? Is it different domain? And how do we actually pay for ebay plus membership itself, through Paypal (I can't see an option to pay by card)?

    • +1

They can see the difference because the order number is also in the description of a charge on your CC.
You shouldn't pay through PayPal nor zip/after pay. It mentions that explicitly.

  • my plus just automatically renewed yesterday… damn it.

  • +2

Huh, I get an error when I try to activate it. Normally commbank app is pretty good…

    • I've had activation errors before, ended up working the next day

  • I just joined, I already have something in mind to buy so instead of waiting for discounted giftcards this should be an alright deal.

  • Great, cancel my previous eBay plus in June now it is a good time to rejoin.

  • Weird. Activated the offer in the CommBank App.

Joined eBay Plus, it gave me the $40 code (which i've already used on a $47.95 item… paid the $7.95 with PayPal which has been taken), but my CBA Debit Mastercard hasn't been charged yet for the membership.

If I view the Invoice under the eBay Plus section of my account, it says i'll be billed on the last day of each month, and the amount is $48.99.

I'm guessing i'll get billed for the eBay Plus Membership on the 31st and then 14 days later hopefully get the $20 back from CBA?

    • My invoice via desktop browser says Amount due as of 23-Jul-21: AU $48.99, and 1c under the cashback eligibility what the?
Still eligible for $20 cashback with that amount?

      • That's exactly what mine shows. But, if you click on [Show Details} next to your Account Id it'll show you when your billing cycle is. Mine's the last day of each month.

      • Where do you see that? on eBay or Paypal desktop? Also, do need set CBA card as payment method for this, or set the CBA as card in Paypal?

      • Yeah this invoice thing is a royal pain in the ass. I think it means you've previously sold something on eBay and therefore have a seller account for paying the fees.

        My saga goes like this:

Signed up for eBay Plus through the Westpac equivalent of this deal. Nothing on my card for many days, until eBay finally issues an invoice for fees. However, eBay My Account page says that the invoice will be paid via my default payment method, i.e. PayPal. Talked to customer support agent, who confirmed the fee will come out of PayPal, despite what the eBay Plus page says.

Went to change my default payment settings. eBay wants me to register for a seller account. I'm guessing that the requirements have change since I last sold anything, so had to jump through ID verification hoops.

After all that, STILL can't find anywhere where I can change my default payment method, so I add my Westpac Card as a payment method and remove PayPal.

Now it says I have an outstanding balance of $48.99 but owe $0 as of 23/7. So by now I've got the shits with eBay and just want to do a one-time payment just to get it out of my face. But now it won't let me, because I can't OVERPAY my account because to date I owe $0.

So yeah… I don't see how this is going to end well.

TL,DR: if you've ever sold anything on eBay before, beware before signing up for this deal. Or at least don't take the same steps that I did.

        • thanks, mine seems to be the same situation as u. will see if I get charged correctly at the end of the month. just as precaution, after changing my payment method to CBA, I removed all the ebay automatic payment from Paypal, so they shouldn't be able to charge my Paypal anymore

    • What would happen if you removed your payment methods? Would they chase you for the money or just cancel the membership.

      • Just cancel the membership. My debit card has not enough money and they cancel it.

  • +1

In the eligibility info, it says "offer only applicable to the first annual membership subscription payment. First subscription payment will be made when you sign up or 30 days after your join date of you're eligible for a free trial."

Not sure how they could tell if its a join or renewal….?

    • +1

Perhaps by charging $48.99 instead of the full $49?

I don't know. The last time I had eBay Plus I paid 99 cents for the year.

    • Bump - I’d like to know this as well. cancel and rejoin would count as first annual membership?

  • +1

Meh, I have found close to no value in eBay plus. Amazon prime is better in every way.

    • In what way? Genuinely curious.

    • +2

Indeed it is. Amazon Prime has free music, movies, twitch games, TV shows, deliveries for el-cheapo items. It's packed full of value.

eBay Plus was great when first introduced, but then many sellers just jacked up prices which negated any real discount/bargain.

  • +2

This is targeted I did not get it

  • +2

Nice deal, unfortunately my membership doesn’t renew until October, and even cancelling it won’t work as it’ll keep me as a member until then.

    • Good (or not) to know it keeps the membership - mine expires in November so this offer is irrelevant even though I have the commbank offer.

  • Anyone know if $50 voucher for joining is still valid?
Main page only shows $40, can manually click to $50 but not sure if it will count

    • $50 voucher for joining is still valid?

      It's still valid.

  • +10

just used ^sub102's link in the comments above for the $50 promo and got the $50 code right after I signed up!
    Should stack!
I dont know how to link the comment so here's his link: Mods please change if possible.
    https://pages.ebay.com.au/Buyer_coupons/mplp/

    • Is the subscription invoice $48.99?

      • Yep. That's what mine shows. Apparently will be billed at the end of the month.

I did have eBay Plus in the past (I paid 99 cents for the year), but that expired late last year or early this year.

    • Does it work if you were previously a plus member

      • +1

yes, I had eBay plus in the past. I just used the link above and got the $50 instantly

    • Cheers :)

      @Aussiecash @ricky83
When i click join, it says that this offer is expired. Was it same for you but you still got $50 or it wasn't saying that this offer is expired ?

      • +1

I read in later comments that the $50 was not available anymore few days ago, only the $40 offer

  • Thanks OP, also got the $50 voucher.

  • +1

    Targeted?

  • +2

Looks like Coles is no longer on eBay which was my biggest reason to join

  • Where does it say you get a 40 dollar coupon? Want to be sure before i sign up. When i go here https://www.ebay.com.au/ebayplus/home i don't see anything.
