  • Does this have Dram?

    • +2
      • No DRAM
      • variable bill of materials, no set list of components so Kingston will use whatever is available in the market for the memory controller (Phison E13T or Silicon Motion SM2263XT) and TLC flash memory for small capacities and QLC for larger capacity
      • low cost drive, equivalent to entry level A400 series.

It's also the A2000 replacement that actually has DRAM. Such a shame.

        • Do A2000 is better? That's been around $130 a few times

          • +1

@mrtee: A2000 is better as it has DRAM with a longer warranty and more write endurance. The issue is that Kingston have retired that model in favour of the NV1. Many stores and suppliers still should have stock left on the A2000 though.

'40 units available' lol yeah good luck with that :)

    • +1

Still available even now. Don't think there'd be many people interested (it's a DRAM-less drive, and A2000 has been around this price recently). Also I'd say SE always make these numbers up, and they'd be happy to sell many more.
Edit: and for these "Epic Hour" deals they always mark them as "Sold Out" as soon as the hour finishes lol.

Sounds alright for a steam library/game drive?

    • Perfect for that. I have a mechanical drive with the bulk of the games and install most frequently used games on a 1TB SSD.

FYI - shipping from Shopping Express is taking ages atm as their warehouse is in Sydney (at least for my item) as AusPost has big delays there. Took over a week to even be initially sorted by AusPost.

So if you need it super quick I would get it somewhere else.

    • depends on the stock location, sometimes they directly ship from supplier. :)

  • This one or crucial p2?

  • thought this was a good deal but realised it's not the a2000

  • +1

yeah A2000 is a fantastic drive

bought it March 2020 for (omg) $220 when the SSD prices were inflated, but I needed a drive and thought that model was the best bang for the buck back then

can be found $100 cheaper these days

    good for someone else!

    • It's actually pretty hard to find any stock at a low price any more. All the lower priced A2000s are OOS. Shame, too.
