300

Latest gift card deal from Coles.

Terms and conditions:

  • A limit of 5 Gift Cards per customer applies. Offer valid only at Coles Supermarkets (excludes Coles Online, Coles Express and purchases via giftcards.com.au), subject to store availability.

  • To qualify for this offer you must present your Flybuys card at the time of purchase. Whilst stocks last, no rainchecks. Offer valid from 28/07/21 to 03/08/21.

  • BONUS POINTS can be awarded more than once for each Gift Card type including different denominations of the same Gift Card but can only be collected up to 5 times per Flybuys account.

  • Excludes $20, $30 and Variable Load Google Play Gift Cards.

  • Excludes $30 The Her and $30 The Teen Card Gift Cards. Excludes The Kids, The Him, The Pub & Bar, The Online and The Cinema Card Gift Cards.

Additional notes:

  • 1000 Flybuys Points is equivalent to $5 Flybuys Dollars (which can be redeemed at a number of retailers).
  • Any purchase of third-party gift cards at Coles supermarkets also earns base Flybuys points; therefore, the minimum number of Flybuys points you earn as part of this deal is actually 1050 points per gift card (up to 5 gift cards).
  • Any purchase of any gift cards at Coles supermarkets will not count towards any bonus Flybuys points offers other than the one mentioned in this deal. In other words, targeted Flybuys offers at Coles (e.g. spend $x in one transaction to earn y points) always exclude any purchase of any gift cards.
  • Scanning your Flybuys card when purchasing third-party gift cards at Coles will usually cause the minimum spend on targeted Flybuys bonus points offers to go up, because that's how Flybuys has set up their algorithm for determining the minimum spend requirement.

    What is 1000 points worth?

    • +5

$5 (if you convert it into Flybuys Dollars)

  • +1

Just saying, JB is currently not accepting physical giftcards in sydney

    • +1

They did two weeks ago however that was before non-essential retail was forced to close.

      • yeah, found it out the hard way when gf needs a laptop for WFH and I was thinking I could final use up my stack of HIM giftcard.

        • An option could have been to convert the TCN gift cards into JB Hi-Fi digital gift cards on the TCN website, and then purchase the laptop on their online store using the digital gift cards (assuming it was available online at the time).

Meh 5%. U can get that from Suncorp etc.
Don’t support this promo so they get the msg that ppl only buy 10-15% deals

    • +7

      $5 on a $50 card is 10%

      • -3

I think it is 9.09% discount not full 10%

        • +2

          9.09% would be 5/55. You're not paying $55.
          5/50 = 10%

However, since technically you are getting 50pts on purchase (value 25c) plus a bonus 1000pts (value $5).
          So that's 5.25/50 = 10.5%

          • @Tiggrrrrr: I think the reason for the 9.09% discount comment is that you actually need to spend the $5 (actually, $5.25) of Flybuys Dollars on future purchases at business accepting Flybuys Dollars to enjoy the benefit of the bonus points. You cannot apply the $5.25 of Flybuys Dollars you earn as a result of a $50 gift card purchase when you purchase the first $50 gift card. You also cannot use Flybuys Dollars to pay for any gift cards at Coles either, so you cannot directly use them for future gift card purchases.

The $5.25 of Flybuys Dollars cannot be treated as cash either, as you cannot easily convert the Flybuys Dollars into cash that can be used to purchase items elsewhere (e.g. discounted Coles gift cards).

I shop regularly at businesses accepting Flybuys Dollars anyway, so I view bonus points more as a 10.5% discount instead of a 9.05% discount.

            • -1

@WookieMonster: yes, it is because it is not Cash so you cant directly deduct the amount for the caluclation.

if you are being given $5 cash rewards/back then it will be 5/50 = 10%

            • @WookieMonster: Ah. Gotcha.

Seems like a good deal on the TCN cards.

Not so much on the restaurant or pamper.

  • I’m hanging out for a discount on Spotify gift cards.

  • Does the system allow you to buy gift cards with Flybuys Dollars?

    • Only if you have a Coles Financial Services product.

    • No, not at Coles (except for Coles Financial Services products).

It may work at other businesses accepting Flybuys Dollars and selling Coles Group & Myer gift cards.

      • Could you explain a bit more about how that works? As in how does having a CFS work with buying giftcards

        • I have never held a CFS product, but as far as I can tell, if you have a CFS product and have enough Flybuys points when you scan your Flybuys card account associated with the CFS product, a prompt will come up on the checkout screen when you head to the payment screen asking whether you would like to redeem 2000 Flybuys Dollars for a $10 discount in that transaction.

If you look through this comment thread, you’ll see what I mean.

          • @WookieMonster: Okay this is not the same as what I was asking.

I have $90 in Flybuys dollars already loaded onto my FB card. At the self service checkout I can select card payment and use these to pay for stuff by scanning the physical FB card and entering a PIN.

I am asking if I can use this method to pay for gift cards NOT get a prompt to redeem 2000 points worth $10.

            • @gadgetguy:

I am asking if I can use this method to pay for gift cards.

I get you now. The answer is no.

Coles has programmed their POS to specifically prevent people from using Flybuys Dollars to pay for any gift cards at Coles.

I’m not sure if this is also the case at other businesses that accept Flybuys Dollars and also sell Coles Group & Myer gift cards (e.g. Kmart, Target, First Choice Liquor).

    • I managed to buy Restaurant GC with a Coles GC. Interesting that WW has closed that loophole (buying GC with WW GC); Coles allow it but not with Flybuys Dollars.

  • BONUS POINTS can be awarded more than once for each Gift Card type including different denominations of the same Gift Card but can only be collected up to 5 times per Flybuys account.

Was that the case last time ?

    • Yes.

      • What I mean is did anyone buy the 6th card on an account and see the result ?

        • No. According to the last deal comment 5 is the max, 6 is no good.

          • -2

@nismo: Do you need some glasses ? In reality some of these deals go way beyond the t&c's but that is too difficult for you to understand my simple question .

  • Just checking, to get 5000 points, I would have to purchase 5 $50 gift cards, each in a separate transaction?

    • I would have to purchase 5 $50 gift cards

Yes. You can purchase gift cards of higher denominations as well (e.g. $100 gift cards), but there really isn’t any incentive to do so.

      each in a separate transaction?

No, it doesn’t need to be in separate transactions.

  • I bought a single $100 TCN Rest GC but got only 1000 points, was expecting 2000.

    • When was it?

1000 Bonus Flybuys Points on $50 or above

Should have bought two $50s. It's not like Woolies.

      • Yeah…thought would work like woolies
Was going to buy $200 GC, glad didn’t buy it.

Its a pain to get rid of small residual balances on these cards.. have a few cards where my the leftover bal is from $0.5 to $2…any tricks to get rid of it easily?

        • Just ask to do split payment?

          • @kerfuffle: Yeah have done that in the past when, but they never look happy when I ask them to split a $4 coffee.

            • @maverick1: Well when it's $4, I can see why they're not happy …

              • +2

@kerfuffle: In all fairness, checkout operators usually don’t mind if I ask to split payments between multiple cards, but the people usually waiting next in line do mind lol
