eBay Plus Refund - Not Received 188 Days Later

Is there anything I can do to get a higher authority on a refund at eBay?

I have been in contact with eBay support 8 times now with regards to getting a refund on a cancelled eBay Plus subscription. Each time they assure me it'll come through this time and tell me to take the chat reference number and wait either 7-10 business days, 2 weeks or "30 days max"… and each time it doesn't come through.

I've been very respectful each time but this 8th time I refused to leave until they gave me some sort of extra verification I'll actually get it or let me speak to someone higher up, the chat ended with them disconnecting me.

Starting to sound a bit like the boy who cried wolf hey?

Anyone else had a similar situation? I could drop it and part without the refund but now out of stubbornness I'd rather burn my self to the ground before giving up. Already wasted 188 days of my time, whats the rest of my life.

    I did tried last year to ask for refund, eventually they refunded membership fees and gave me free membership for a year after a few discussion with their rep as they took out the fees as auto-renew. I even disputed with my bank while it took so long. In your case, better talk to the bank to get ur money back

    • That'd be nice, I did hint at some form of compensation in my last run but they flat out said no to that. Makes me feel better about my chances of getting a refund though, thanks.

  • You could try asking your bank to do a chargeback if you paid by card

    • There is a time limit to that and I'd say 188 days is way past it.

    • Yeah unfortunately I should've thought about this coming up to day 120, can't do it after that.

    • That one did eventually get resolved! After a few phone calls to Amazon it seemed as though the hotline support team was a bit more sympathetic and got it through :)

  • I did a paypal dispute. got the refund from the dispute cause ebay never replied. then ebay refunded me.

    But more seriously, (some people are going to say "that's exactly what they want you to do, etc"), it might be worth looking at how much your time is really worth vs the $49 EBay Plus fee that you've spent so much time chasing and decide whether it's worth wasting more time.

  • damn I just noticed auto renewal from ebay plus, even though I cancelled a little while ago! ebay plus wasnt that useful to me. Amazon did the same to me twice, just got a refund.. dont think I can trust companies with saved payment details now.

    • Just cancelled again and they claim to have refunded me.. but Im only 3 days from payment date.. best way is to cancel automatic payments via paypal which I've just done for all the companies I had it listed there for.
