Good luck trying to change your postal address. It took me 6 emails to do that!
It all seems to be on track now. I received my 2nd issue yesterday (May).
interesting that they want to start my subscription with June issue? still have a bit of a wait it seems.
Perhaps it is being run by the monkeys featured in the January issue?
I'm glad I'm not alone. I too got the Order Confirmation email and Shipping confirmation email the following day. I also could not find the CC debit, that I honestly thought was once there… odd.
I'm not going to bother with these clowns, even if they did end up getting the ~20 odd bucks from me.
Got the map today. really quite crappy, just like a map they would include in the newspaper. nothing special at all.

Well guys, I haven't even received my first number yet.
Sent them an e-mail on Friday, hope they will come back to me Monday.
They tell me now our subscription will start with the July issue. It was a Christmas present .
No explanation given for how they confirmed both order and shipping.
There had better be some nubile tribal ladies.yes it really is pathetic, was looking forward to this at christmas time and nothing to show and its almost May. hopefully the june issue arrives soon.
Aaaargh, just received an invoice via snail mail for $20.70. Checked bank a/c and had definitely paid on 17 April so phoned them and was told. "Oh, OK yes you have already paid so disregard the invoice. :( Your first magazine will be the June issue."

They seem to be sending out the first issue before the invoice, if you really want to be a di*k you could just not pay it. Im guessing because they are so disorganised they will keep sending the issues anyway.
If they do eventually bring up non payment, just give them a taste of their own medicine and say "Sorry, I neglected to pass the invoice on to the accounts department". Then do not pay it for another 6 months, which is kind of what they have done (Order in December, first issue is June).

Ordered as per others in December and received March copy in February.
Have not seen any copies since then and have not been charged.
Called them early on in Dec to have my address fixed and that change was on my March copy's address label.

I had this issue. After 3 emails they agreed to send me 3 extra issues at no cost extra cost, so a total of 15 for $22. I'm happy with that.
and today they sent me the shitty map too lol

For those that got charged, what was the description on your credit card statement?
Currently corresponding with Nat Geo support and they want to see if I have been charged yet.
Looking at my statements online, mine says "VXXX 13/04 NAT GEO SOCIETY X X XX XXX XXXXXXXXXXX MISCELLANEOUS DEBIT". I also got an email from their customer service line, titled "Magazine Payment Acknowledgement" saying "This email serves as confirmation of your NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC subscription payment.", etc.
Im still waiting, paid the bill over a month ago so hope they dont have another bungle.

I am nearly ready to contact them again, certainly would have expected June issue by now, they usually arrive the month prior..
Appalling service. I haven't received mine either. Sending out a couple emails now.
NatGeo seem to have no problem sending me spam every day offering me 20% off crappy merchandise but they struggle to send out an issue.
Time to download the pdf from piratebay (I have technically paid for it) and read it on my iPad.
I didnt receive mine so i sent an email basically saying how lame the service was for such a big company anyway the story goes that even though i was sent confirmation the order had been sent it hadnt their was a technical issue with the system and as well my account was not debited the funds so they send me two free issues starting with the Titanic issue and a world map,next thing an account for $20.50 was sent to me from Hong Kong National Geographic i called them and they said this was for the Yearly subscription i initally wanted as per the deal posted on ozbargain it will start in June. Yesterday i heard John Laws say he hadnt received his subscription either.
I am really pissed off and wish I did not get this offer. I paid the bill over a month ago and not an issue to be seen, definitely time to send another email.
I phoned and was advised that they are usually received by the middle of each month and if I don't get it by the 20th June to phone them then. :(
After being told to see if my credit card had been charged I sent this email:
"Unfortunately, my bank records only date back as far as three months. Due to the extreme period of time since I made my purchase (nearly six months) I have no official record of credit card charges that occurred at that time. In my personal records I have made a note that I paid $22 on the 24/12/11 but I have no other details on the transaction. Therefore, based upon my personal note of payment, the order confirmation email I received on 24/12/11 and the shipment confirmation email I received on 25/12/11, I would make the assumption that I have in fact paid for my one year subscription. Furthermore, it is really not my responsibility to find out if I have been charged or not as this is clearly your mistake. I have already been stuffed around enough by your poor service."
I got this reply a day later:
"Thank you for your reply.
Firstly, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Upon further checking, we confirm that no payment was taken from your credit card. We certainly apologize for any misunderstanding with regards to the email confirmation stating that the NG Magazine had been shipped out.
We can confirm that your membership has been processed to commence with the August 2012 issue. We have arranged the dispatch of a World Map to your address as well as extending your membership for 2 additional complimentary issues as compensation. This membership will thus expiry in October 2013.
You will receive an invoice shortly at your address for the amount of 22 USD (or local currency equivalent). May we kindly request that you return this invoice to our address together with your payment (as outlined on the invoice). "

In the middle of the copy is a pull out offer for a years subscription, only $59! - lol :)

I am not able to see any charge to my credit card. I wonder if anyone was charged on credit card when they placed order on dc last year. If yes under what heading the entry appears?

My June issue arrived on 12th June so don't give up hope yet. My July issue hasn't arrived either.

Their excuse this time is:
"We regret to inform you that there is a delay in the delivery of the July 2012 issue. Australia Post notified us that the July issue shipment was held by the Customs earlier this month. Therefore the July 2012 issue is not able to reach you on time. This situation is resolved now, so may we ask you to please allow a few more days for the July issue to reach you?"
Wonder why Customs were interested - weird.
Very strange. Hope they are not making up stories. Will never be ordering magazines from them again. The July and August issue should be posted together.
It seems to me that they are making up excuses every month. Maybe we can combine our Ozbargain powers and put some pressure on the head office. It seems to be the Australian office that is stuffing things up. Last year I would receive the issue a week or so before that month. ie I would be receiving the August issue now.
After ordering in December and chasing them up in April, my July issue still hasn't arrived. If there is a delay they are aware of, it's not like they can't message me with the same address since they have no trouble spamming me with advertisements. Pretty pathetic, National Geo.

Yeah they had credit card problem way back, but some people including me chased them up on it and they successfully charged me. Whether they successfully send it is another issue.
I received the July edition last Friday, well overdue.

Well I've now received Octobers edition but I've still not been charged.
I dont mind paying the $22 but they have not chased it up.I'll add that I also received a subs option from Nat Geo today for $59, 14 issues, Fleece Jacket (OSFA), World Map and various or maps that come with them every now and then.
8-12 weeks for first delivery, begins Jan 2013.
I've managed to receive one every month after receiving the first, it's funny to see the 'great offers' inside touting a subscription at double the price.
Although, I must say this magazine has the fewest number of ads I've ever seen. Good value.
I have had 3 not turn up.. they don't resend issues.. they just add months on to the subscription.
After their initial stuff ups, it took from ordering in December to having the first issue turn up in June. And since then, 3 missing. So not that happy.
I purchased this for a relative and only just found out none were ever received… freaking wonderful. I remember they charged my ccard immediately too. Looks like I'm paying for some other people's copies ;) Doesn't sound like emailing them is much use, but I can try…
Just to add…but have any of you been bombarded with junk mail (often charity mailshots) since taking up this offer? I am now getting approx one mailing a week, sometimes from Europe. I know it as a result of taking up this offer, because NG spelt my name wrong (what a surprise, amongst everything else!) and all these mailshots have the same error.
Yes! We get heaps of it now, mostly charity stuff.
i have bought a gift subscriopn on early November and my credit card was debited on the 9th of November, it is now the 18th of december and my gift recipient is yet to receive his first copy of the magazine. what sort of organisation is that ? that can sell you a product and not deliver after 6 weeks? i have tried ringing their office in the US but no answer… sent emails to their website in the US and the reply was :

I found my order confirmation in my email and it says it was shipped but I've never received anything.
I sent an email to [email protected] to find out what happened and that I want my magazine issues… Was really looking forward to them too.

Gonna have to check on this. I am moving OS in 3mths. Getting 1 magazine before I go is a bit of a waste of time, so I may as well cancel the order.
