Has anyone used them for potato scallops/mash browns? Do they hold well together for pan frying?

Is that a thing? Do people cook mash and then fry it?

      • +1

Yeah it's delicious. Fry it in a pan for breakfast. Throw a fried egg on top with bacon and on toast. Sorted

I've done this and yes it does!

  • out of stock for Amazon au, only available at third-party sellers with higher price

Why use powder mash while aldi has frozen one around the same price and it taste quite good.

    • +6

Because it doesn't take up valuable freezer space and you can stockpile more of this during a pandemic

I use it for hiking overnight trips and camping.

Super simple and while not the best its super light, filling and high in carbs.

      • yeah I do the same chuck a little bit in with some of those freezedried meals to bulk them up a bit

    Deb Instant Mash Potato

I first tried Deb in Dallas…

    • Does Deb in Dallas work for you jv?

  • I buy the frozen mash from Woolworths. It's 1kg for $3.50. I also add some frozen onions to it. It tastes better then Deb. You wouldn't even know it was frozen and not fresh. I mainly use it to top Sheppard's Pie

Mum swears by this frozen stuff - I'd never even considered it to be a thing as even I can make mash potato, but I have full faith in her haha.

I remember buying this one or twice when I was at uni, eugh, flowery and fake tasting in my opinion. Can’t beat real potatoes.

    • You are looking at it the wrong way. If you don't have a cow, you buy fresh milk from supermarket. If you don't have a supermarket close by, you buy long life milk. If you don't have long life milk available, you buy powdered milk. If you don't have access to that either, you get it posted to you from overseas.

Sick of your kids eating Glue?
Try the new potato based glue substitute.

  • Black and gold made a good but I think they changed/discontinued it. The bulk packs on Amazon were quite good as well.

  • Deb doesn't mash my potato anymore, but this new Deb, oh she sold out
