I find my 6 pro solar not even making it a week with one charge and 5 gym visits. I don't use GPS, turned Vo2 off, don't use music. Coming from a 5x which lasted over a week easily after 3 years makes me sad.

    • you clearly have an issue then… i have a fenix 6 non solar, default options on, my watch make 1 week minimum

    • 6X pro from the JB deal a few weeks back. I'm on day 21. Only thing I've turned off is PulseOx.

    • I forgot to mention I am using Digic watch face, but that is the same watch face I was using on my 5x. How are you other guys getting so much more?

      • Is it something to do with size (6 vs 5X)? I use my 6X sapphire to record my rides to work - 45 min x 10 activities with GPS is no problem, I wear it 24/7, watch will easily last more than a week with that.

The 5x did have a slightly bigger battery, but I figured years of use of that battery + upgrading to a new more efficient processor + solar it would still be better battery life. Really the only reason I wanted an upgrade was for solar to increase battery life lol…. how the tables turned.

          • @knobbs: Hey thanks for the info. I just did a product claim on my Fenix 5. I've got a store credit. With the Fenix 5 I hardly charged it even with 6 gym sessions a week. I was looking at the solar as I thought also that the battery life would be excellent. Thanks, I will steer clear of it then

  • Anyone point me to the best, or a decent outdoor watch ? not interested in Gym use or riding MTB etc but mostly hiking, or white water kayaking. Often over night or two, a decent battery life without carrying more crap would be nice.

Currently use a Suunto Ambit 3 (a day or 2s life) or a Casio Pro (10 years of life but no GPS) … not sure if there is much use in changing to be fair but open to suggestions. I use a phone and Quadlock case for other stuff (MTB & E Scooter mainly).

Might look at the Garmin Instinct Solar. Better battery life due to more solar, but a few less features than the fenix (gps is a little more basic, and no golf IIRC, also no appstore like the fenix).

  • I found this link on Reddit- Garmin Fenix 6s Pro vs 6 Pro-vs-6x Pro. It's very comprehensive
