amaysim: $35 Cashback for $20 SIM-Only 80GB Plan @ ShopBack

283

Here we go again!
Amaysim at Shopback shows the 80GB sim plan with $35 cash back and its $20 to buy at Amaysim so that should be a $15 profit.
The plan reverts to 80B/ $50 ongoing so all the value is in that first month.

Amaysim runs a 28 day 'month' and uses the Optus 4G network.

EDIT: Tracking came in but shows $14 ($35 on Shopback)
PM-ed the rep and asked him to sort this so please beware the advertised amount seems different than the tracked amount

so that should be a $15 profit.

Only if it is not a mistake and will be tracked. Unfortunately, it may be not the case as no one reported tracked yet in the last deal. Surprisingly, people bought it after the mistake being corrected got the tracking email.

    • +4

Not sure of worth the risk of not tracking. Also with lockdown don't really need all that data!

    • +3

I told people they don’t and won’t track, but got negged last times.

  • +2

yep never got it tracked last time and send DM to rep no reply yet.

    • It's Sunday so they might not work, but I don't think this ever works to anyone.

  • if anyone buys it please report back here if it tracks and ill give it another shot.?

    • +1

Probably it tracks for $14, the standard rate @ CR.

  • +2

Previous one never tracked. Pretty skeptical of this.

  • +1

I have bought it and I will report back when it tracks.
I have also had issues with SB tracking in the past but I have found the rep here to be helpful.

    • +1

I bet it'll be $14 if it tracks.

      • +1

I took a screen shot of every page as I checked out for evidence - probably best to do the same if you buy it.
Going on previous examples, they may well change the amount later in the day.
I notice CR are $14 for the same plan, so I would not be too surprised if they change it to that later.

        • Oh dear lord. This is like UAT. I hope Shopback improves.

    NETWORK used in title, thanks

    • -1

It's Optus, it's in the description

    • -1

      Lol

      • Rocket Man!! 🇰🇵

  • No credit check for this kind of prepaid plan right?

  • Is it required to activate the sim to receive the cashback? Or only purchasing should suffice?

    • If however the service (SIM) is not activated within 30 days of purchase, the sale will be deemed cancelled and cashback will not be awarded.

      Got it.

  • I don't think this will be eligible

  • It has soon been 48hrs since my wife (her account) and me (mine account) purchased from last deal. Yet none of us have been tracked. If by tomorrow no tracked i will contact Shopback and make a complaint.

  • +7

Still no tracking from last time.

  • +3

I got tracked quickly but only for $14

    • +3

      Sounds like a bite scam

      • now talking to the amaysim supporter, they can't help ask me to contact shopback

  • I bought once nd never tracked more than 6 months 🤣

  • Lmao again?

  • +1

Promo is not listed in Shopback website, better check with SB rep first. Last deal was listed.

    • Agree, went through and saw promo code on Amaysim, no codes listed as eligible on Shopback

    • it listed on the left hand side with the $35 cash back for the 80G mobile sim plan on the shopback website, I have the screen shot, just need to spend time to chasing the right amount back with the hassles.

      • Is this promo code listed on Sopback

        BC4DC3

      • It's the promo code used not listed, you can refer to the last deal.

        • +1

Seems the last code was listed by Shopback, where this is not

  • +5

Don't do it…just don't..it will track at half rate, and in my case Amaysim will make you pay the amount you got as cashback before they will connect the sim.

Boot these bums off all cashback sites.

  • +1

and it tracked, at $14. Contacting the rep….

    EDIT:
OK guys, I have PM-ed the rep and asked him to sort this.
At this point I would say buyer beware. Its definitely showing $35 cash back on SB but my tracking came in at $14
    Have contacted Mods too

  • +4

Just noticed that as of 1PM Shopback have changed their Cashback amount to $14 for this deal

  • +3

Good new for those that bought as originally posted:
The SB Rep has got back and confirmed that those who bought @$35 CB will have their cashback honored.
There might be a slight delay as it was updated manually last time.

    • +1

      Good score

  • +1

gottracked but $14 I will learn the lesson and stay away from shopback

    • +1

      read comment above

      • So? Time on solving this is not worthy. If you can not provide a smoth service, customers will go away.

        • +2

If you bought it as originally posted and it tracked OK, you will receive $35 cashback for $20 spend.
You don't have to do anything

          • @King Tightarse: As mentioned it will be honoured, so if I order now will I still get 35 cashback?

            • @htc: Hi htc,
They are honoring the original deal for those that bought before the rate change (12.45p.m. today, Sunday)
After that time it is $14 cashback for a $20 spend

              • @King Tightarse: Still waiting for notification from last similar deal. No word back yet How long should be before get answer? Cheers.

                • @bluebagger1: If it didn't track you have to report missing cashback, but to be able to do that you have to wait until tomorrow.

              • @King Tightarse: Yeah, they learnt the lesson last time, not to notify on forum that they will be closing the deal at a specified to minimise losses. There is a discrepancy between amaysim advertising the discount, and consumer getting discount from shopback, this mis communication can really hit their bottom line. I can almost think the managers or the stake holders in shopback are discussing how to honour the other deal, 10 but 20 cashback, honour every one, they will take an expensive lost, not honour, will upset a lot of members and create bad review, they are weighing their options, may even offer a compromise, or may be offer in some sort of credit. Sound like they will honour this deal due to uncertainty as many didn't jump on the deal, which would have make shopback or amaysim more losses had this deal posted before the other one. Note you only received confirmation after they close the deal. Not complaining but I always think who is paying the extra 10, where does the extra 10 coming from, from amaysim or shopback?

                • @htc: Probably should adopt percentage based, not dollar based like Vodafone cashback, e.g. 75%, 100%, 150%.

  • SB T&C said only 1 cashback per month per SB account, so if you bought the previous deal then you are not eligible for this deal then.

    • +2

      1 cashback per calendar month … :) ..

If they had made use of the previous deal in July, they would be eligible for this month (Aug) …

      • oh right, forgot today is 1-Aug.

  • What is going on with Amaysim? ??

It seems that Optus, the new owner, is trying to cannabilize this once good Telco and kill it off, once and for all.

    1) You can't verify ID anymore - you need to take a screenshot of your ID and send it to them by email. They told me, by live chat, that verification hasn't been working FOR WEEKS!

    2) You can't replace a SIM ("sim swap") unless it's in the hours of 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. It then takes OVERNIGHT, as someone in the Philippines is obviously doing it manually:

    "
You're about to switch your existing mobile number over to your replacement SIM. It's important to know you won't be able to use your old SIM after this. Your request will be processed shortly, please insert your new SIM into your device. SIM swap requests can take up to 3 hours to process.

If your request is after 4pm it may take until the next day before being processed.
    "

    3) Their Customer Services, now based in the Philippines (used to be Sydney), now finishes at 6pm every day. Used to be 10pm.

    • It's extraordinarily difficult to capture the projected savings/synergies in a merger/takeover business case. The savings are done when people were made redundant and workload offshored. However the accompanying quality degradation is hard to measure. It's fairly common for the acquirees to die out over time - the benefit accrue to the incumbents by having one less competitor in the markets.

Just have to always be ready to move to other providers to maximise your own benefits.

  • Followed the shopback T&Cs : if there's a failed transaction to click through via the website again.
Now, even after paying amaysim $10 they refuse to ship the sim. So I paid $10, have no sim and won't get cashback!

I just wanted to chat with Amaysim, but they are of course not reachable.

    • Amaysim chat works fine for me.
Did you buy this deal or the other $20 one (I see you commented on both)

      • I bought the $20 deal, but the issue is with Amaysim.
On Amaysim chat I get "Our agents are not available at the moment."

        • OK so thanks for negging and complaining in my $35 deal which you didn't buy…

          • @King Tightarse: It's a neg for the retailer Amaysim

            • @johnmelb: Sound more like a strange stuff up to me - most deals work out or can be fixed without too much issue

              • @King Tightarse: I'll check with them again tomorrow via chat (seems chat is closed) - if they admit stuff up and send sim I'll revoke the neg.

But I do have serious concerns about a company that sends out a message that a transaction is unsuccessful and telling you to pay again, for something that's both paid and invoiced.
They should double check before sending such message.
