  • Nice price for a decent tablet. Hint that Xoom 2 is coming out soon?

  • +1

Mighty fine price for 3G. Good work OP.

    • This doesn't have 3g though does it?

    • No 3G

      • +1

No it doesn't. I didn't mean to be off topic.

    • No 3G and 16 Gb

  • +1

    is it really 1080p Screen?

  • +1

    Tempted but… SHOULD I?!

    • Think about it for 5 mins and the decision will be done for you. I think there is only 2 left in stock.

      • +1

        Make that 1 :)

  • They're about to get Android 4 aka Ice Cream Sandwich for this platform which should make it even nicer to use.

  • Someone should note the resolution is actually 1280*800.

This tablet already has Ice Cream Sandwich released on it, and it's damn tasty!

    • Note: not an official release, assuming this is the MZ601- see xda developers.

Official ICS release will most likely come Q2(possibly 3).

  • Xoom2 just released on telstra, other telcos havent got it yet. Once they got it you will get the best deal ard. that being said…this is the deal as of 21/02 if you dont have ABN nor you willing to sign a contract on optus.

  • Thought the HTC EVO 3D NextG is cheap too at $456

    http://www.1wow.com.au/htc-evo-3d-nextg-handset-black-echtce…

or the HTC HD7 NextG phone for $299 is good value also

  • Is this available in-store on for on-line purchase only?

  • +1

This is best price so far - typing on the XOOM I bought last week for $428 - JB and HN will price match - OW do not carry so forget about that %5.
This model is on run out and I saw the XOOM 2 today at Telstra shop (nice but will be expensive)
Also ask yourself if u need 3G as smartphones can tether (tablet wifi connect to smart phone and use yr phone 3G) this year there will be bunches of new models using Tegra 3 chip and the Tegra 2 will be bargains -also make sure your tablet is upgradable to Android 4 (ICS) the XOOM is but Toshiba may not be

    • +1

When the new models arrive, it's going to be hard to find stock of the older ones.

  • Is this easy to use? I want to buy something like this for my dad, but he's not the most tech-savvy person. Would I be better off just buying him an iPad?

    • +7

If you buy him an ipad he will be intellectually castrated.

There is a slight learning curve for Andriod devices but in the long term you wont regret it. Andriod will allow and offer more customisation and and it wont suck you dry like Apple products.

      • +2

Okay, thanks buddy. I think I'll buy him this.

    • Go for the Ipad. It's easier to use because you have limited options

  • Plenty of Android vs IPad sites elsewhere -Android is easy and I am setting this up for Ma in law - pads are way dearer

  • Dose anyone know if this XOOM is unlock and I am assuming this is not refurbish?

    • Unlocked and not refurbished.

  • I think onlinecomputer still have them for sale. Last time I check saw a lot in shelves

  • wait a minute: "Large and full 1080p HD Screen"…i didn't find this in specifications on the web. typo?

  • Waiting on closer to $300.
+ve, but not for me yet.

  • Its cheap enough with the storage + capacity to serve as a portable media player. Remember the days of those blocky Archos at $899+? I wanted one bad.

  • Just saying but a much greater alternative will be released by Asus soon!
    http://ces.cnet.com/8301-33378_1-57355665/asus-memo-370t-cha…

The Asus MeMo 370T even has Nvidia's Tegra 3~! For about $250 (as announced)!

Another interesting… tablet/smartphone… being released is: the Asus PadFone

    • +1

Dont forget to add the $250 "rip off Australians" surcharge, doubt this will start anything under $500 here in AUD as with most items we get ripped off locally and its cheaper to buy overseas.

      • I'm still optimistic that someone will sell for under $400; if $400 then we can get a better tablet with an equivalent amount of money :)

  • Can anyone compare this to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 deal from Binglee ?

I bought that just yesterday, but don't mind returning it if this tablet is much better.. Any opinions?

    • This one has a 3G radio built-in. It's heavier and thicker than the Galaxy Tab but not a bad price.

    • This one has 3G + 32Gb + SD card slot (32Gb) vs Samsung only 16gb + no 3G + No SD card slot, but better looks and feel.

      • I'm gonna go down to JB HI fi and give the Xoom a play with and dependign on that will return the Galaxy Tab. More comments welcome however.

Hows the build of the Motorola's generally? They don't break down or have any QC issues or anything do they? Never have bought a Motorola product before.

Edit: Dammit, clicked negative by mistake. Can someone revoke my vote.

Double Edit: And its out of stock as well now. Oh well.

  • out of stock

  • Went down to JB HI FI and they have wi fi model only for $398 and with 3G for $598. This deal was a ripper.

  • Damn. I've given up on getting my Ainol tablet (heh) from the China Grabber deal a few weeks ago and am in the process of getting a refund, was hoping to get this one to replace it…

    • +1

sorry - just had to add the Ainol slogan "Enjoy life. Enjoy Ainol"

      • Who can argue with that?

Got an email back stating that they were receiving stock in small batches then testing and sending out in order of orders placed. Hopefully mine gets here soon then…

EDIT: Sorry, thought I was posting in the original thread.
