I would never buy another Samsung fridge again, loud rattly compressors on them

    • Ours was like that, although that was ten years ago so they could be better now.

      • Hasn't changed mate, two years I've owned it noisy compressor from day one and a bubbling noise at rear drip tray

That also ice themselves to death

    • I recently returned a Samsung microwave which malfunctioned after only a few months. The good folks at good guys were all unanimous in pointing out how bad Samsung is.

  • They price beat themselves by $10: https://imgur.com/a/xl40cI5

    • Retravision have it for $1388 which is who they're beating, not themselves.
I believe if you're an RAC member, you'd get an extra 5% off that too, so $1318.60

      • I mean that they took it upon themselves to pricebeat. I know that they would use an external source for the price.

  • Anyone else seen a better deal let me know please

Slightly cheaper with eBay Plus offering 5% off so $1376.55.
I think you still get the $50 voucher if you sign up for Plus for $49 so it's essentially free for the year.

Perhaps better delivery service thru TGG though. As per my comment above if you're in WA, Retravision have it on special at $1388 and I believe RAC members get 5% off sale items included, so $1318.60 but obviously have to be in WA and an RAC member.

Could get eight of these delivered…

  • Definitely research if this model is dodgy.. hows the reviews?

    • It was only released in Feb this year, so there won't be any long term reviews.

  • 5 stars on the good guys site but only 4 reviews

  • 10 year digital inverter warranty

Samsung fridges (a lot of different models) have freezing /water drainage issues into and under the veggie crisper models. I'm currently dealing with it. YouTube/Google it. Lots of folks with same problem, but different models..
Ours was top of the line French door model about 5 years old now.
I'm unsure if this particular model is affected or not though. Buyer beware.

    • we had that issue 3-4 years ago. Their drainage system was blocked and the freezer wasn't cold enough. Plus the fridge is always loud and rattling

  • Thanks. Given yours is five years old maybe it’s a blockage from lettuce leaves getting in the drainage?, if I see anything online I’ll let you know

      Common problem with Samsung fridges.

Was a design flaw with the heating element not being able to melt all the ice near the drainage hole, so the ice blocks the hole and all the water eventually pools up in the crispers.

Easy fix was to open back panel, use a stainless steel zip tie and attach it to the heating element with the tail going into the hole (will conduct heat and melt ice in the hole).

      • I think I have the same issue with mine at the moment. Do you have a reference guide for a fix as you mentioned?

There is a few photos of the heating element with a small metal tab on the bottom, and you'll see it doesn't quite reach the hole to defrost it properly. I replaced the tab with a stainless ziptie but you can buy the proper replacement online, which is the one they used.

  • Been looking at fridges. French doors and side by side usually have really bad star ratings. There is some similar 450L - 500L bottom mounts that are 5 stars+ for $1k. Do your own research.

    • What brand are you suggesting, I am in the market for fridge for my first home.

Currently looking at LG based on past experience of their non whitegoods products and the door cooling (as I am the sort of person that is constantly opening and closing the door), but happy to be persuaded otherwise.

  • I would avoid Samsung fridges. My fridge started failing with ice build up and tripping power off every now and then. Cost me $240 to replace the thermostat and sensor only to last me another 3 months with ice building up again. Purchased another brand.

  • I'm interested in taking recommendations for value for money French Door fridge brands? Seems that Samsungs are duds based on the comments above

    • Same, in the market for a french door, was considering the new 7000 series. May have a look at Fisher and Paykal

  • Do NOT buy a Samsung Fridge.
Major failures twice within 2 years and they have agreed to refund the fridge. Took them more 40 days to pickup the faulty fridge. It's now been 4 weeks since they have stated a refund would be done, and no money has been transferred. You have been warned!

  • Now at $1199 - Harvey Norman, Bing Lee.
