Sunbeam Mini Barista EM4300 $170 (Free Click & Collect) @ Myer eBay

360

I believe it's the lowest price at this moment. RRP $299. Looks like available for click and collect at limited stores only.

Mixed review from past deal with issue to leaking, but many happy users as well. At 43% off it should be good value.

Have a 25% off tied to my eBay account, shot down by the Mrs. Lesson learnt, buy first ask later :(

Great little unit, I've had mine for 2 years now.

Recommended by Choice too, if that means anything to anyone.

Ours has been great. Good coffee for what is a compact machine.

1.5 years for me with no issues. Great little entry level unit for the price. I’m about to pass it on to a family member for their first coffee machine.

I have the Breville Dual Boiler at home (love it) but bought one of these for work (stuck in office now), this thing is surprisingly good!

    • How does it compare with ghe Breville you mentioned?

      • The Breville I have is currently ~5-6x the price of this so can't really compare.

But I will say this machine is way better than using a pod…

Adding to the chorus that this is a good simple machine that punches above its weight when it comes to making coffee. Replaced a sunbeam cafe series machine with one of these last year and been happy with it.

  • I'll pop in my 2 cents for this being a great little machine. I reckon it served me well for about 4 years before one day just deciding not to turn on. It's compact and does the job. Using pressurised ('dual-wall') portafilters means it can get a good-looking crema from just about any ground coffee.

    • Does grind size matter that much with this unit?

      • +1

I find it makes a difference (I started with a hand grinder then moved to the Breville Smart Grinder). If you're grinding your own beans or using a finer grind, I recommend getting the single wall basket/s.

I got some OEM ones for ~$20-25, but it's a standard size for may be able to get others cheaper? Of course, see how you go with the included first.

  • ive had one. it was great until it leaked and then it wasnt able to turn the water off 4 months later.

  • I bought one of these for the office ( which sadly hasn't been used much in the last 2 years) and it's a great little machine. Heats up WAY faster than my breville at home

I'm on to my third one of these. There's definitely quality issues but they make good coffee for the money. The next step up is more than twice the price for similar quality.

The issue seems to be the seal around the bottom of the water tank. What I'm trying now is filling it up with a jug rather than removing it to fill so the seal gets less insert/remove wear.

I'd still buy another one because of the price/performance but only from a company I would trust to replace if it dies in under about two years. Appliances Online replaced the second one, which died within a few weeks, without hassle.

Anywhere that might price match with Myers?

  • I got one for $80 off market place (slightly used) been over 2.5 years no problems great little machine

  • To add to the endorsements of others here, I've hade mine for almost two years without issue. Maybe a tiny bit of water leaking under the drip tray, but nothing seems to escape the machine. For me it makes good coffee (if the beans are decent), is easy to use and relatively compact. Can add a separate grinder and still come out ahead of a comparable all in one machine, with the benefit that if one of the other breaks the replacement cost (or effort) is much less. I like my coffee as much as the coffee from my in-law's Breville Barista Express.

  • appears to be sold out everywhere. 1 left in Melb, ringwood but Ebay does not allow order due to stock not available.

  • I had this machine. It was great while it functioned correctly. Eventually (< 12 months in) it would continuously pump water as soon as you switched it on (the pump still kept going even after the water tank had been emptied on the bench…).

Returned it to Myer and switched it over for the functionally equivalent Breville Compact Cafe. Performance wise they are pretty much the same - great coffee once you nail down your process. So far zero issues with the Breville.

When I asked Sunbeam about the issue before refunding they said it was a recurring defect with a small circuit board worth < $1 but due to its position inside the machine meant it was not repairable….

I have this machine and it is great. I used this with Breville Smart Pro grinder. Makes decent coffee and small foot print on kitchen counter. After 2 years, mine had a leak and randomly turn off when I was making a coffee. It's just out of warranty but I contacted Sunbeam anyway. They replaced my machine out of goodwill which was nice as I didnt expect this. I had to cut power cords on old machine and take a picture and send to Sunbeam. But after done that received the new machine in 2 business days. Hope the new one doesnt have leak issue.
