"Oh my gosh, have you met Frank down in Accounts? He's so disruptive, wears a Seiko and everything."

  • Japanese made?

  • Made in Japan.

    • It says originated in Japan. Not made in Japan.

      • It says made in japan on the watch face…

Well in another thread it says only those model no. end in J are from Japan.

@ozbar: Yeah, if you google the product number, none of the photos that come up except the Amazon one show the face with "Made in Japan".

Amazon is bad with stuff like that. I've seen some that have the completely wrong photo for the product code. The reviews say "you will get the watch that belongs to the product code, not the photos".

            • @theguyrules: "Photos for illustrative purposes only"

well what else are photos used for jeff???

if its a photo of bezos maybe arse wiping?

You can't buy watch from Amazon. I bought a Gshock and the display freeze after 3 months.

Sure you didnt get a fake from a 3rd party?

    • It's lucky Amazon has a great returns process.

How did you go getting a refund or replacement?

I don't understand the hate, it's a seiko 5 the latest one for 250 dollars. In my book that's a bargain ! Good find OP :)

The Seiko 5's are great… so reliable that my original lasted from 1975 to 2012… 37 years! The replacement, my second one has been going strong since 2012… that's 8 years so far.
They have out-lasted other more expensive watches (dress watches), yet these Seiko 5's are my every day watches and take all the knocks and bumps of everyday use with very little adjustments (maybe once a week).

i can never understand the snobbery of some people. The Seiko 5s look good, are reliable time-keepers and are robust and sturdy…

      • They are fine. I still have working Seiko 5s that cost $50 25 yrs ago.

However they are like your first Hyundai Excel. They still go, but I've moved on….

What exactly makes this a "military" watch?
I can't think of a more inappropriate style of watch than an automatic with a non-recessed face and a shiny silver bracelet for someone in the military, where generally speaking people rely on their gear to work 100% of the time with as minimal maintenance overhead as possible.

If you look at almost any photo of a US/UK/Australian service member in Iraq or Afghanistan, they'll almost always have some kind of G-Shock or Casio on their wrist; not a stainless steel automatic.
