    I wonder how much the blu ray drives are by themselves? thats a pretty sweet deal either way, just missing a video card and windows (and peripherals)

    blu-ray about $160. Its just a reader.

    The point of that motherboard is that the integrated video will do 1080p HDMI.
    A pity its not so good with Linux/myth yet.
    No video add-on needed. Just a DVB card.

    That is a nice motherboard too, very popular in htpc setups because you don't need a graphics card to watch hidef movies and it offloads 1080p processing from the cpu to the onboard graphics chip.

    Throw in a $120 NVidia Geforce 9600 GT and you could have yourself an all purpose fairly high end computer for under $1000 (including screen, keyboard and mouse).

    For intel based htpc consider GA-EG45M-DS2H and skip dedicated graphic card altogether (no gaming mind you) if you're into this, the the 7.1 lpcm over hdmi alone is worth it. The lack of it was people's major complaint of the MA78GM-S2H.

      that motherboard does look goood .. didnt look at it coz when i was looking at motherboards on the umart website it didnt mention it is a micro atx motherboard

      this is going to be a media pc so i am not much worried about having dedicated graphics card .. a dedicayed graphics card will probably use up more power as well

    oh sweet didn't realise it was a 780 chipset mobo - they are great, best thing from AMD for years.
