    • Have you figured out how to get an alert if the door is left open for too long?

I have the unit from aliexpress and running Tuya app.

  • +1

Ewelink garage door opener on YouTube. This is not an ozbargain

    • Agree, you can pick them up for around $20 and mine has been running great for a few years now. Use the magnets in the setup so the app knows if garage is open or shut and so you can say garage on/ garage off. Just saw you can also use Tuya app as well for Homekit support, I have only used eWeLink so will try the Tuya app to see how it works with Siri.

Here is a link for reference you can get a little cheaper.

  • I always look at the comments to help me with a purchase - I hope this helps others. Great product, easy to follow instructions and install and very handy to have.

    • +1

does this have an inbuilt sensor to detect whether the door is open or closed? Or do you need to buy an additional sensor.

      • +3

Yes, it has a reed switch on a long cable to help identify if the door is open or closed.

  • Thanks OP - grabbed one :)

  • thanks got one

  • This is awesome, grabbed one from prime day.

Only beef is when my pixel phone is locked/in my pocket and I say Google close my garage…and I have to unlock my phone šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø.

  • Thanks - got one.

  • Does this comply with Australian standard?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/600376#:~:text=Be%20aware%ā€¦

    • Who's going to enforce a standard written by a private enterprise not backed up by legislation..

      • Yeah true but I guess it will be a worry in case it malfunctions or someone manages to hack it.

  • Dang itā€™s got soo many other models listed in compatibility but not this one

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/chamberlain-sectionallift-sectioā€¦

    Thoughts? Reckon it would work?

  • +1
    • Also curious about Securalift, I have the GDO-2v6 - https://www.ata-aust.com.au/AtaAust/media/Manuals/GDO2v6-Manā€¦

    • +1

Yes. There's a terminal block. Connect to COM and OSC pins.

      • Says only GDO-7v2 on their manual… Sent email hopefully it'll work

        • It's compatible. It uses a very basic connection which pretty much all openers have.

    • Got this and installed it today with a Securalift ATA GDO-11V1 Er. The wires went to the GND and OSC terminals. Easy enough and works well with meross app. However after I linked/authorised it to google home, I can only close the garage door. If I want to open it, itā€™s saying a pin is required and one hasnā€™t been set up.

Why people are not considering this cheaper option with local AU warranty and ticks all safety standards??

      • Probably because neither Bunnings nor the supplier list the garage door compatibility.

    • +1

Just bought this, work swith the GDO-7v1 works great. Tells me if I have my garage door open for set amount of period. Local warranty too. Thanks!

  • Can I wire this into a 12v aux output from my 12v centsys d5evo gate?

  • I have the old grid box for the door, would it be okay to be upgraded to this?

  • These are great when they work. I have them setup with a Ubiquiti network and they work for about 4 weeks without any issues. They start to become non responsive and I have to power cycle them. They also give off a false obstruction detected message

    • I have the unit from aliexpress and experience the same thing. I have a double garage and the unit furthest from the router is the one that drops off and becomes unresponsive.

I have since bought a Deco M5 mesh router and put one in the garage and no longer experience the drop outs.

  • Just keep in mind that Australian law requires you to also have an IR beam safety sensor on your garage door if you install one of these.

These sensors are quite rare in Australia.

    • +1

Which law are you referring to?

  • May be on off topic question. Can someone suggest a product to automatically open windows curtains please? Iā€™m in a desperate need of it. Thanks

  • I have this one from ebay, same as Kogan rebrand

2 years and still going solid.
Includes the sensor for the garage door to let you know if it's open/closed.

I use it often once I get a delivery, I open the garage remotely, they place the goods inside and I close I remotely.

  • About to get a b&d motorised roller door fitted, will this work with that?
    It's the RDO-1V4

  • Has anyone used the one linked by @Austaurean that looks like a better deal, that has a magnetic sensor? https://www.bunnings.com.au/orion-grid-connect-smart-garage-ā€¦

    • Yes just installed 2x of these about 7 mins ago.
Thereā€™s so many fitting accessories included, Iā€™ll need to make another trip back to Bunnos to return all the extra fittings I bought which I didnā€™t need (comes with a double power adapter - hello!!). Was worried the sensors would need extra brackets to work with my roller door, but nope can just stick the sensors to the guard rail with the included 3M tapes. Would recommend.

  • Wondering if someone could help me.

Our builder went into administration at the almost end of our build and didnā€™t leave the garage remote (because they didnā€™t pay the tradie so they werenā€™t given the remote).

Would something like this work in lieu of it?

Itā€™s a colorbond roller door and I know SOMETHING is inside the wall because we patched it up ourselves (they said that they thought we would have preferred a giant gaping hole in the wall and left it. Idiots)

Or would it be easier/cheaper to get a remote somehow?

    Thanks

    • Is there a wall switch/pushbutton (wired) where you can use to open/close the garage door? If there is a one, then it is likely you can use this or similar devices to open/close your garage door.

All these wifi garage door openers are very similar in operation, basically when you press the button on the App, it just trigger a momentarily connection of the two wires (the red and black) to similate a button press. The sensor tells whether the garage door is open or close. If the magnet is away from the senor (reed switch), it detect the door is open.

If this was OzCheapskates we might see recommendations of using a staple in lieu of the whole red/black wires and expensive automation systems nonsense. Just connect the two ports with a staple and boom! Garage door opens/closes/explodes. Could probably pry an old staple off an office document, next time weā€™re dumpster diving. But this is OzBargain, so buying a universal garage remote from Bunnos or online would also do the trick. šŸ˜‰

  • I was eying this for sometime and thanks for the run sheet which helped me to grab one knowing that it's compatible with the B&D garage door due to the shared link https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91ZqeHK5uUL.pdf along with that there's support if need to be.
Looking forward to making use of it for automation, ease of use and safety. Cheers.

  • I got something similar that has been setup in my home 6 years ago (Gogogate)
has been working great and been using it everyday

Now they have a new version called iSmartgate
Its a bit pricy compare to this but the quality is great IMO

  • Can this work with siri?

  • Great app. The open button appears on my car stereo as I approach the street.

    • That's cool. I haven't seen that pop up yet, on phone or car.
I have to open the Meross App manually

  • Does anyone know if this is compatible with Guardian 21230L garage motor? Thanks

  • Thanks bought one. Have been looking at this since last lowest price.

  • Is this thing water proof?

Thinking of putting this for my outdoor driveway Gate. Has anyone got success doing this?

The box itself I doubt is waterproof….as well as the power plug….
Rain would kills it I recon if not the Queensland scorching sun would.

Not sure if I should buy to test it out on my gate(not garage door).

I have a dog….so I always need to wait till everything is completely shut before I leave. Not sure if that kills the purpose of having this thing.

Another useful thing is the kids can open the gate without a key or remote control šŸ¤·

  • Received this today. Took long to setup becoz of my lack of knowledge in electricals but no issues from Meross. Its working well so far and liking it.

  • Can anyone please help me…m trying to install since morning but couldn't figure it out which wire in my B&d cad4 should I connect with? I have pictures to share ease DM me, really appreciate thanks.

  • Where have people been putting the sensors if you have a roller (not panel) door?

Found a YouTube vid of a guy who made a bracket but hoping to avoid that.
