Car Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (Solar, Wireless) + 4 Sensors $16.89 Each, 2 or $32.10 Delivered @ amandadv eBay

221

I was looking for a cheap Tyre pressure monitoring system for a little while, this one seems to be a really good price.
BEST OF ALL SHIPS FROM WITHIN AUSTRALIA.

A good YouTube video explaining TPMS by Aussie Youtubers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNlwbYfDyVI , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egdn9AoFv2c

Recently also bought the non solar version for like $4 more (which uses AAA batteries from different seller) than that wish i had waited before buying that one, but it's okay. This one is way better as well, because it is solar you would not need to charge it. it should charge automatically with Sun.

its a really useful thing to have in my opinion for those people who are always lazy to check their tyre pressures, and have a car with no TPMS built in the car itself. In Australia, companies are not required to have TPMS in car, but other parts of world they must have some sort of tyre pressure monitoring system.

These are easy to install, and setup too. There are so many benifits of these tyre pressure monitors, for my case can give it to my fam, who always is lazy to check tyre pressures, and refill them. You can better monitor you tyre's life, and hopefully extend tyre life. And prevent tyre blow ups (by overpressurising e.g. you always fill tyres at 38 (thinking that's hot tyre) but one time you put 38 on cold tyre, and tyre rated at 42 max, with heat it may expand to 45 and blow up)

Regarding Downsides,

I have heard some TMPS are not that accurate pressure wise, if that's the case ofcourse buying of eBay, eBay can help otherwise generally speaking just calibrate in your brain, like how people calibrate broken car speedometers, e.g. 50 Km on Speedo is actually 55 Km in real life etc.
Other downside is these are going to be a pain in the a** to take of, (you need the wrench to take them off) it's like a theft safety mechanism. So tyre pressure filling up can take a while.
Another downside is it beeping when there's nothing wrong (false alarm) like sudden ambient temperature change from extremely hot sun, to rain causing tyre pressures to fall suddenly, which it may think of as a air leak (sudden pressure loss).
You will need to buy 1632 batteries from outside, but they are real cheap on eBay.

Features:
Tire Pressure Monitoring System(TPMS),which lets the driver get the real-time tire pressure data, temperature data and status, always keeping an eye on your car's performance.
Support shows four wheels' tire pressure and temperature simultaneously,high/low tire pressure alarm, high temperature alarm and air leakage condition alarm.
Real-time notification of the tire pressure condition of each tire, the driver can guarantee the pressure balance of the four tires according to the tire pressure value, so as to achieve smoother running.
After fix the sensor on the four tires, the receiver can be sitting on any surface of the car. When the vehicle is started, the built-in displacement sensor of the host computer automatically starts the host without manual startup.
When a tire tire pressure is too high or too low when the host issued an alarm sound and display the tire pressure value, and locate the tire tire pressure is not normal to quickly find the problem of tires.
When a tire temperature is too high, the host alarm sounds and displays the real-time tire temperature value, and locates the tire with too high temperature so that the driver can make corresponding treatment.
Combining with the solar energy display,There is no need to connect the power cord and it saves precious on-board power supply ports.

I've been using this for a few years.

I think two of the sensors have died due to the battery depleting. The main console's battery has degraded so it doesn't last very long with a full charge from the solar panel. Sometimes it throws a random pressure value which freaks me out and I check the tyre and ends up being a false alarm.

The anti-lost nuts will give you a massive headache because it's hard to unscrew it without getting grease on your hands and it takes 3 times longer to inflate the tyres because you gotta remove these nuts first. I stopped using the nuts altogether.

Another gripe is that the labels on the sensors will eventually fall off because it's just a paper sticker. Best to put a labelmaker label on it and put some araldite or super glue over it to keep it attached.

The sensor is also not user-friendly to screw on. Sometimes at night I struggle to screw it on the tyre and end up releasing a lot of air.

    • can it be powered on by the cable? (usb)

      • Yes this one is charged by either a micro usb and solar

      Glowing review. Purchased. Thanks

Also, if it's good enough for Bentley and Lamborghini owners (as per images) then it's good enough for a 2003 Camry

    • Agreed but ultimately these are at probably same price that a tyre fitter will charge you putting a single TPMS sensor on a single tyre (inside the tyre ones), so I personally would not think these are bad at 16.89 delivered each.

Inside the tyre TPMS sensor are ofcourse much better but they will cost significantly a lot, One can probably buy two of these and still last same time as the inside the tyre TPMS sensors (which cannot have battery replaced, hence they have to be replaced all-together when putting new tyres on rims. And these outisde the tyre TPMS still work out to be cheaper for the life of the tyres

    • Great review. thanks for sharing

    • So apart from these issues - its all good?

      • Yeah, it's good!

I have a 6 sensor version (similar, no idea if same manufacturer) bought off e-bay. Bought a couple of years ago for 4WD trip around oz in 2019. 6 sensors so it also has camper trailer tyres.

Been brilliant - still going, done many km of corrigations, creek crossings (ie submerged etc) and still works fine. Ive checked pressures independently (with digital pressure gauge) and readings are accurate.

Yes lock nut (so sensors don't rattle off more than theft protection) are a pain, but you don't have to check your tyre pressures as often.

Solar panel doesn't keep up the charge, but consumption is low so I charge manually (micro USB) every 3 months.

So would recommend these in concept. But pot luck if this one is any good.

Thanks OP - Bought 1 @ that price will give it a go.

Out of stock, Thanks for post op I was just to slow 😔

    • Your welcome mate, to me seems like it is the lowest price it has been on the tag of TPMS on Ozbargain, but that being said I think most eBay sellers usually have like an hourly stock release limit (like with the eBay plus tuesday deal of Castrol 5w-30 from Sparebox about a month ago), so may be the seller updates more stock later, but may changes prices of that batch seeing how many he sold suddenly by Ozbargain power.

    Out of stock …….

  • Best to avoid this type of TPMS, the design Inherently flawed (it releases air in order to measure), also causes tyres to go out of balance.

Get the internal sensors, much more reliable but require to remove tyres to install, but then you can rebalance the tyres while you are at it.

Some cars use ABS sensors to compare the speed of all 4 wheels, if they are not at the same speed then it knows there's a problem. Indirect TPMS (iTPMS) is a software based solution and does not require pressure sensors inside wheels. Not as accurate as direct TPMS systems, but also no batteries to replace.

    • Not sure why you are getting negged @browser

These are a waste of money and you should be checking your tyre pressure regularly.

      But for those interested.

*They have weight so they will throw your wheels off balance
*The rear nut used to tighten the cap (to prevent theft) is a massive PIA to take off and put back
*Instructions are often unclear and the default setting is not PSI or KPA but in BAR , trying to change it on a difficulty scale of 1-10 is about a 3 (pain in the ass)
*Having tried a few different sets for my own testing purpose some will arrive with a dead battery ..so guess what..you need to figure out how to replace it (pain in the ass)

If you can ignore all the aforementioned it will still display what you need but it wont recognize any sudden pressure drops like a true TPMS system would (i.e if you had a leak on the highway which could lead to a blowout)

      Make your own decisions

I don't know, may be negged by people selling this :D

It's a novelty at first, but very soon become an necessary distraction (if it still works).

I had this and had 2-3 sensors die within a few months.

I previously got this to hopefully provide early warning of a leaking tire. Just did a long road trip over rough corrugated roads and punctured a rim which caused tyre to almost burn out before I noticed and stopped. This could have sounded alarm when pressure started to drop or temp got too hot and I could have stopped and saved the tire at least. Instead I lost the rim and the tire 😢

The one I got looks the same. It seems to only support pressure down to 22psi unfortunately so will have to turn off while 4 wheeling off road. But it should be useful on road. Should be handy to monitor temps as well when using lower tire pressures on dirt and corrugated roads.

Some of the sensors are a couple of psi off, but that doesn’t really bother me cos I manually check them anyway. It’s the big drops and high temps I want warnings about.

Ive had 2 of this style and they die in the heat. Next time I’ll try the one that mounts to the top of the window where the main body is protected by the roof. But they were awesome while they worked.

    • Ohhhh wtf, i personally have not gotten such a email Hope i dont

Seller has given the tracking number, not sure if he actually shipped the item out or not

  • Got an email stating that that they had a warehouse fire and all stock destroyed in fire, not sure if I believe them.

    Being offered a refund.

  • Received the email Re the ‘fire’ as below

New message from: amandadv Top Rated Seller(9,470Green Star)
    My friend,

    Sorry to bother you.

After getting your payment, we are working overtime to arrange the shipment. Unfortunately, due to the circuit aged, our warehouse was on fire, and the goods were basically burnt out. Fortunately, there were no casualties. To save your time, how about we refund you fully now?

    Waiting for your reply.

Pls be safe at this special time.

My package has been given to Australia Post
So i can't say exactly what happened, most likely the seller is just making up stuff although its a real ridiculous excuse

Most likely they didn't have enough stock as listed on eBay and thus trying their best to get out of situation

  • Had to joing ozbargain to post after plenty of guest browsing!

Got the same email about a fire in their warehouse.
I questioned why they continued to sell thousands of items if there was a fire and they replied that only my item was burnt!
They continued to ask if I wanted a refund, I never agreed and asked why they were asking and for other options.
Then they cancelled the order stating the reason as buyer wanted to cancel, which I never did! Because they claim I wanted to cancel, I unable to leave feedback on ebay.
Seems it is a trick they employ to prevent negative feedback being left…

    • Same reason given for my order being canceled. Very shonky

Got mine yesterday, tested quite a bit so far NO PROBLEMS really with it other than the fact that

    1. ANTI THEFT didn't really stop me from undoing the sensor from tyre (aka made it easier and quicker to fill up tyres without needing wrench).

    2. IT's so frustrating to see the units in BARS, and manual is sh*t about telling how to change bars to PSI, but youtube made it super easy.

    3. Sometimes it takes time for the monitor to come up with tyre pressures (due to no vibrations or like a battery saving feature I think)

Upsides - Everything expect upwards listed downsides, Quick and easy setup, very close to accurate air pressure readings (aka matching gas station air inflators).

    • Thanks for your feed back. Hopefully will install mine on the weekend.
Have you got the Youtube link to change bars to PSI . Thanks

      • I cant exactly remember what video it was but i think it was this one

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOUF3Wk__-g

and BTW When you fillup tyre (before installing the TPMS) inflate it with an 1 extra PSI, as it may sometime release little air when you try to screw on the actual sensor to the tyre

        • Thanks will do
          Cheers

    • BTW Forgot to say that the package itself comes with the batteries too (1632 sensor batteries) SO YOU DONT NEED TO BUY THEM SEPERATELY IF YOU BOUGHT THIS PARTICULAR PACKAGE, the package had slots for 6 sensors, but ofcourse only comes with 4 sensors
