Also TIL Dometic sell ovens and washing machines

    • I thought they sell mostly stuff for caravans and campervans, multi power source either mains or 12V

On this note, I recommend picking up a 2nd hand used bar fridge for a fraction of the cost of this refurb drawer fridge.

    • Yeah, plenty got given away free every now and then. And not sure how you'd dry age them, but without bag it'd be very poor choice due moisture control

A small fan works well and is only needed for the first few days of drying, I use an old 120mm computer fan.

I should add that id take this fridge camping as well haha

The $180 haier from last fortnight is my dry age fridge :)

  • If any company has (alleged) " factory seconds" my advice is stay WELL AWAY 👎

Depends on the product/brand. I saved hundreds of dollars on my Yamaha "refurb" receiver. Product was as new when I got it, with full factory warranty. Would have bought a tablet from a mob which do phone and tablet seconds but scored a great deal on a new one from and ebayer. Once you know exactly what you want, do your seller research - check out bona fides, feedback etc, email the seller and ask questions - then wait and watch. There are bargains to be had, although obviously in small numbers.

Exactly, it's what they are refurbished returns, falsely parading as "factory 2nds", no such thing, ACCC should rape, tar and feather any company that pulls this fake stunt 👎

          But extreme Jesus 😳

Factory seconds can be many things, including demos, display items, "unwanted gifts", returns, products which fail a "factory" test and are simply passed on to a seller to fix and sell (eg Excel Hifi below). The seller will provide a description and often if you phone them they'll provide additional detail. Again depends on the product and the business you're dealing with.

I don't post deals I see because there are insufficient numbers (ditto for Dometic fridges), but if anyone's looking here are a couple of useful sites to consider:
Link to Yamaha refurbs : https://www.excelhifi.com.au/audio-visual-receivers/refurbis…
Phone/tablet seconds/refurbs: https://www.certifiedtechdirect.com/ aka (possibly) https://shop.greengadgets.net.au/ iirc (maybe not, been a while now)

  • Care to share some dry aging guidance??

    • sorry wish i had some! will be my first go. im hoping to try the umai dry ageing bags

  • I'm after a home DC fridge, any suggestion? Been pointed to Dometic/Engel but I feel like I'm paying premium for van/portable fridges.

  • Can you use this for the Food Transportations for commercial purposes?

    • +2

probably depends on what youre transporting? theyre relatively reliable at keeping things cold but if you keep opening them up then they arent as effective

        Human organs?

    • +1

Yes. Holds about 40 cans of baked beans, or 30-40kg of rice. Can't help with the volumes of loaves and fishes.

Why are these portable fridges always so expensive….. $449 for a second-hand tiny fridge that fits a few bottles.

    • Home fridge is MASS production, portables are limited market. They're also 12/240V

    • Survives off-roading while running in 12v

    • Lack of decent competition to push price down.

Got 1 at Anaconda a few weeks ago. Cost 589 and got a 100 buck voucher with it.
