I think you'll find this seller has a good reputation - unlike those morons @Buy Aussie Now

Still don't have my jerky pack from those twits.

      • Same here my bro…same here…everyday I stand next to my mailbox staring at the auspost vans hoping they will stop and give me their meat…everyday

  • Tempted. But without ingredients listed on the website I'll refrain (for someone with Allergies).

  • When is the best before/ expiry for this batch?

  • A nice bundle! Ordered one.

I ordered from 4hunters last time they were here

    Good
    • Fast delivery
    • Great price
    • Decent flavour
    • Nutrition stats are great (very low sugar)
    Bad
    • Tastes a little saltier than usual
    • Biltong is cut up small… It is like the crumbs of regular jerky. Larger pieces are maybe 2mm x 10mm… Lots of 'dust' sized pieces mixed in.
    • They have 2500 mg of sodium per 100g so no surprise it is salty. https://ibb.co/KbFttVc

      • Hi Mistredo

Thats not the reason at all most products like this have a hight sodium level for the drying purpose I can assure that it does not make it taste any saltier. Im sure BluBoy would be talking about our BBQ flavour that is slightly saltier than our other flavours .

Should give the Fathers day taste bundle a go and see for yourself.

        • I gave it a go, ordered the bundle. πŸ˜€ Nonetheless, your biltong has more sodium than is average. The one I am buying in Aldi has only 1700mg per 100g.

          • @Mistredo: Awesome you have ordered and look forward to your feedback.

@PeterHunter123: So I've got mine today, and I was positively surprised with the packaging. It is nice to see satchels are resealable. I immediately tried the BBQ one. The taste is good, and it didn't feel salty at all. Nonetheless, what was disappointing for me how dry it is. It is probably because you make very thin slices that dry a lot during the process.

Overall it is not bad, but I will not be ordering again because it is a little too dry for me (the driest biltong I have tried so far). I like when biltong is a bit moist.

Though thanks for the offer, I am glad I could try it.

              • -1

@Mistredo: Is good feedback for them - a lot of biltong & drywoers makers will at time of ordering allow the customer to select if they want dry/normal or moist product.

Might be an idea for the OP - as seems from reading regular eaters very much have a preference for the moisture level and also the amount of fat on the biltong.

Often also customise the thickness or if it's shipped whole - of course all this customisation for a smaller maker would add to costs as you'd have limited ability to have pre-packed product thats also super fresh.

@Daniel Plainview: @Nikko and @Mistredo please note a very important fact when packaging cured products in sealed packaging is that WE HAVE to follow certain water activity within the product for safety reasons, and having fat and moist product in packaging is a health risk. We absolutely understand that it may not be the right "moistness"or thickness for everyone, but we have to adhere to the Food Safety Regulations in Australia. However, we do offer moist biltong and wet & fatty biltong in our shop, as it is sold fresh. It is a health risk if moist meat is placed in a bag, as it can become rancid very quickly. Thank you for your feed back, and your support is appreciated!

                • @PeterHunter123: Thanks for your reply. I wonder how other manufactures do it then because I assume they also need to adhere to the Food Safety Regulations in Australia. Yet their biltong is moister and thicker, and it is sold in similar packaging to yours.

If you have Aldi in your proximity, try their biltong to understand what I mean.

                  • @Mistredo: Everyone to there own I suppose , enjoy your day.

And thanks for your feed back

                    • @PeterHunter123: So I've opened Chilli Garlic today, and the flavor is awesome, and the cuts are also better. It is also slightly more moist than the BBQ one. I might buy just that one in the future.

                      • @Mistredo: Im so glad you enjoyed it , we are making our cuts slightly thicker moving forward.

Chilli Garlic is one of our bigger sellers

    • Hi BluBoy

      Thanks for the Good feedback

Our BBQis slightly salty but yet it has a Sydney Royal Award.

As for the size we have started to look into this as its a difficult one to keep people happy with some like it thin some like it thick. We have to find a balance which we have addressed now.

  • It's a good deal, sadly I'm not a fan of dry wors otherwise I would get a few

    • +2

I got the drywors from other deal. Quite moist and dense. Would buy again.

  • Thanks OP! Placed an order, looking forward to it!

  • Can’t visit my usual biltong place due to lockdowns so I placed an order. Looking forward to trying something new.

    • Hopefully we become your usual Biltong place…..enjoy

@PeterHunter123 , congrats on your site and products - I have to say they sound terrific and I am placing an order right now.

I also must highlight how amazing your range of salamis sound: https://www.4hunters.com.au/collections/salamis

I assume these can be safely ordered with any other products for shipping? And also can you please advise the approx weights for these? Being that they're an artisan made product I know there'll be slight fluctuations but indicative sizing for each variety/or if there's a standard size would be handy.

    Thanks in advance.

PS. Alas couldn't wait as my screen was showing loads of folks ordering kilograms of stuff and I was afraid to miss out - placed order no.1748 for a few kg of biltong and another few of dry wors - have been trying to promote you over on another thread where there's a LOT of cured meat afficianados/newbies so hopefully can draw you a few sales. ;-)

      Nikko

      Apologies , I missed this one .

Yes the Salamis are Shelf stable so need to keep cold ( obviously don't leave it in direct sun ) so no issues shipping, average 300g

I checked your order and hopefully leaves Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

      I have sent you message
