  • Decent unlocked local phone for the price with clean Android One updates for few more years.

Two things not so good to keep in mind, there is USB C but charges at only 10W at best. Also only Cat 4 speed.

Same price in officework amd Amazon, why give money to Gary?

why give money jeffy bezzosss? OW is my pick though. Mr Gerry you done it again ;-)

      • I'd rather pay for a spaceship than a racehorse.

I'd rather give money to officeworks. And I'd still rather Harvey over bezos, just because he's much smaller. Bezos makes his workers pee in bottles and then thanks them for sending him to space. What an absolute wet noodle.

  • 7% off HN gift card on shopback today.

  • Just be careful with Nokia. I had a 7.1, wife had a 7.2 and tried a 5.x I think. My 7.1's update screwed it up and it was pretty common once i dug around online, 7.2 had some inherient problems which I can't remember, but one thing was it kept uncharging and charging while plugged in all night, I could see the flashing T_T. The 5.x had issues that I can't recall and got a refund on.

Hardware wise I LOVED the 7.1. Stunning. Bevelled edges etc. But their software support and bug fixing is horrendous.

    • i missed out on the 8.3 deal … was pondering on the bugs/faults of past models

8.3 seems to be the outlier ?

Pls stop giving Gerry anymore money until he hands back the 22m he got from our pocket.

    • True. The ato needs to go after that.

Bezos also failed to pass on tips (what Americans ultimately live off) to his super over paid drivers because they just don't need them to feed their families…

Also some recent one in France I think about them getting fined over illegal contract clauses with their third party sellers.

I'd much rather support a local tax fraud, than an international wet noodle.

      • Well… what does it matter who you support? After all, whether it is international or local makes no difference. The only difference is that the smaller one didn't get the chance to become a big one. If roles were reversed, we'd have Gary in space. Nothing will change because most of society doesn't care as they never did. Australians don't even care about themselves. More and more jobs are casualised and they behave as if it is not 99% of the population that will be affected, but somebody, somewhere, maybe Gary and Jeff.
There is only one ship and you are all on that ship. That is something most don't understand.
Most people mind their own business, but when things are falling around you, things are going to get to you too, sooner or later, no matter how much you mind your own business. You can't get away with it.

        • I'm not sure if you're saying "there is no point in trying, so give up"? I'll always try and send my money to the best/least bad place as far as is practicable.

@incipient: The smaller shark would happily eat the bigger one. The only reason it doesn't is because it isn't bigger. Look around you, the world and see how little people care even though shit is hitting the fan more and more by each passing moment.

People claim the Bible is just a made up book and others who think it's not. But, whichever way you take, one is true. The story about Noah. Just like how people didn't listen Noah when he said to prepare because of impending flood. People didn't listen then, just like they don't listen now. People are social beings, but they are individual beings. It's been like that, and it will be like that. You can't change something that is ingrained in human core.

            • @bargainparker: Lol that neg wasn't me.

Oh yeah of course even the small player would happily crush the big one, but they can't. So giving money to the small one will be less bad. Giving more money to the big shark just makes it worse. That's basically all I'm saying. I'd rather support a small/less powerful evil than a large one that already can do whatever it wants.

And people will only look at thier little bit of the world. "Amazon is cheaper so i'll buy from there" rather than saying "I'll pay more to support local" or whatever. It's a thing m it's why the big can get bigger, because they can take advantage of thier economies of scale.

              • @incipient: "Lol that neg wasn't me."

Negs don't bother me. Ignorance is a bliss. Maybe they don't like the Bible story :)

The world is majorly selfish. The problem is, in their selfishness, they don't realize, they are just digging a deeper hole for themselves too. The only winners, so to say, are the biggest sharks. But when there is no food, even the biggest shark can't survive.

It would be fun watching news in a few million years and now evolved monkeys who are excavating ancient human civilization saying, see what those monkeys did. Now, don't be like those monkeys, be better monkeys.
