If by 'worn out' you mean Nintendo's garbage sticks are drifting then try fixing them first. Bit tricky to open up but if they're broken you have nothing to lose.

    • I would try getting them replaced first. Some have been successful in getting there's replaced outside the 1 year warranty period
Otherwise opening them up and fixing yourself. There's a recent fix that involves putting a thin piece of cardboard under the stick

Nintendo told me no to my near launch ones, so I did the cardboard trick.

You can test it before you perform surgery - Go to stick calibration in settings, then press firmly on the back of the joycon and see if the drift stops.

        • I had one of my drifting joy-cons replaced last year (2020) around August. It took about 2 months, but I got it back eventually, and so far no issues.

I bought my Switch in early 2017, and one of the original joy-cons is what started drifting while I was playing Animal Crossing during the first lockdown. Made me miss catching quite a few bugs before I decided contact Nintendo. Their customer service is pretty sparse with communication. I heard nothing for however long, not even confirmation of receipt. Then one day the new joy-con turns up in the post. Felt new, especially compared to its smooth-worn partner.

          • @kingxeratul: Hi I'm interested with your experience with Nintendo. Did you have to show proof of purchase or not? Cos I lost mine but I heard each has serial numbers anyway and did you have to pay to get them assessed

        • How did you open them did you have a special screw driver, how much is that

Holy cow! $100 for these things!

I can see where it goes. Double the batteries, wireless transmitters, NFC + IR + advanced haptics etc

It's just how easily they break that sucks.

With better sales they have been around $80 from Amazon.

Pretty mediocre price. Might be the cheapest around but it's nothing special

  • Did the prices of these go up or something?

  • regret selling Super Mario Party + Neon Pink /Green Joy-Con Bundle for a small profit.

    joy-con price has been high.

oh man those are so hard to find as they are the matching opposites for the normal Neon pink / green.
