Civ IV and Civ IV: Colonization $5.49 AUD each via Mac App Store (Mac only)

90

Apple App Store currently has these two titles on sale for $5.49 each. Note that this is for Apple only. They are currently $19.99 US each on Steam (although Steam versions can be played on Windows and OS X)

Civ IV: http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/civilization-iv/id435169692?m…

Civ IV, Colonization: http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/sid-meiers-civilization-iv/id…

I know these are older titles, but thought some people may be interested. I am NOT sure when the sale finishes, but have put expiry as end of February as I think Aspyr sometimes has "end of month" sales.

Don't forget, iTunes/App Store credit can regularly be bought for ~25% off, so this would make these games even cheaper.

EDIT: still on sale so extended the expiry another week

  • Civ IV yes, Civ IV: Colonisation, no.

  • Unless you want them now, you're probably better off waiting for the June Steam sale as you get them on Mac and PC. I got Civ4 + all expansions + colonization for $7.50 in June last year.

  • They are on sale because downloading the latest version (1.0.3) of Civilization V in the Mac App Store will cause the game to become unplayable (or might not downloadable not to sure as I don't have Civ V) to all those running Mac OS X 10.7 so to make up for it they put Civilization IV, Civilization IV: Colonization on sale and the Wonders of the Ancient World Scenario Pack DLC for Civilization V will be free on the Mac App Store version.

There is a possible workaround available on Aspyr's website to fix Civ V MAS version:

from what I read on different mac gaming sites/forums, Aspyr only gets money the first week or so of the mac version being released on steam and that's why Aspyr & other porting houses usually stick with MAS but due to contract/deal with 2k games they don't have final say on where digital download versions of games by 2k games are released and for that reason I prefer to buy the MAS version of Aspyr/2k games even if usually I wait till on special then I know the Mac developer is getting some money.
