      Dan's working on that…

  • Free mandarin ??

  • Most difficult language to learn, but the reward can be worth it.

For example: A friend of mine got a job in Beijing teaching EASL, because she also speaks a little Mandarin, her wage is now in excess of $80000USD a year including free rent, free relocation, free food (while working at school). Not bad for someone who was struggling finding work in Aus as she didnt want to go to the country side.

    • Soon she might do that over here

      • Really? didn't know EASL teacher can earn that high in here?

Because you need to fact in:

Rental: that alone in Beijing is worth about $2000 a month
Food: I would say maybe $200 a month, then there is the free transport and free relocation.

China bars tutoring in core school subjects

      China Bans For-Profit School Tutoring

      Beijing bans foreign textbooks

Not sure it's a place I'd be wanting to base a career around….

Private school, specially rich private school are still paying excellent money in China. They also lock you into a 3 year contract with 3+ years as an option. I don't see what the issue is if the money is good. Imagine you earn $60k here but earning double over there with most of the living expenses paid. Where would you rather work? Easy choice for many if they are young.

Very much like the local Swimming Coaches in here, if China is willing to pay 3x of what you earn in here, would you rather earn $60k or would you rather earn $180k for the same job?

While all the Chinese kids are learning English, back in Aus the kids at year 5 still cant do division correctly…………..

contracts are not worth anything in China as seen over the last year…

          • @jv: Yes and no in that regards. Depends on the industry.

Well know teacher with good references can go along way anywhere. I know there is a huge shortage in China since the covid hits as no new teachers are able to get into the country for work anymore due to the restrictions in place.

Free COVID19 and free government tracking sessions as well.

How do I say " I'm a POW please don't shoot me " in mandarin ? Only kidding ……. well for now !

  • Looks like only 1st lesson is free not the whole set of 13 classes?

    • Hi,

Yes! The 13 classes I mentioned are referring to 13 open class time slots, not 13 free classes.

      Hope that clears things up.

      • 13 is unlucky…

        Why not 4 classes ?

        • +1

better than 14 instant death :P

          • @Sheng: Ok, maybe 74 then…

  • Do they cater for simple everyday politics chat?

    • The topic of the classes can be moulded to the students in the group so yes, if that is what your group would like to focus on :)
