AFPYDY15

Hi guys, this is my first post so let me know if I missed anything!

Really good deal for the barista express if you are fine with the colour and using afterpay.

There is also a Fathers Day 2021 promo currently going which allows you to redeeem:
• 1 Month of Veneziano Crave Blend Coffee Beans
• Voucher to redeem 1x Veneziano Online MasterDemo

https://promotions.breville.com.au/fathers-day-bonus-july-2021

I'm not sure how much 1 month worth of beans are by their standard but free is free I guess and good way to get started.

Apparently this promo does not apply to this colour unfortunately, thank you /u/Doweyy for pointing this out. See discussion.

I recommend logging into afterpay and forcing the remaining payments if you don't want to pay it off weekly. However, there are no downsides to paying it off weekly if you can look past the ethical decision of using/supporting afterpay.

@RoyT: You should be able to pay it off, close your Afterpay account, and re-open it later. Worked for me at least with a credit card balance transfer. I've never seen Afterpay on my credit report.

            • @grumpybum: It may not be on your credit report but the refinancing bank will ask you for 6 months of statements and it afterpay shows up it's a light red flag. Not a deal breaker if it's a once off but nevertheless a risk

@yellowfever: It all comes down to the bank's view of your ability to service the loan. If they see you have a good history of paying off debt/saving they won't really care. If it looks like you're taking on more debt than you can service it would definitely make a difference. At the end of the day they do want your business if the risk is in their favour.

@yellowfever: 6 months, got it. I'll better off paying with another account that I won't tell the bank xD

  • What is the difference between these two:

Breville Barista Express in Salted Liquorice

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/breville-barista-express-in-s…

    vs

Breville The Barista Express Coffee Machine - Black Sesame

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/breville-the-barista-express-…

    • Your one costs around $75 more for a different colour but does not require afterpay.

      • aaha, so the difference is only the color.
But the colors looks the same in the images. The difference thus should not be much.

        Thanks :)

Holy crap I ordered this with standard shipping from GG eBay 10am this morning and it's just been delivered at 1pm. Estimated delivery date was 1st - 3rd Sept! I'm in Sydney.

I had the same estimate date and it arrived this morning! (also in Sydney).

      • Congrats.

How has been your initial experience with the machine? Have you prepared any delic coffe so far?

It is very easy to pull a tasty shot using the dual wall filter with some beans from Aldi, on extraction about 80% of the cup is crema. But still learning how to dial in the single wall filter, will wait for the proper tamper, scales etc. to arrive before I try to get things perfect. Wife and I are very happy with the purchase.. should make the next 6 to ? weeks of lockdown a little easier.

Likely to be an unpopular comment here but I thought I'd share my experience in case it help others.

I too was tempted into buying a manual coffee machine (sunbeam em6910) by all the comments about making cafe grade coffee at home. I bought fresh beans from my local Cafe, bought all the accessories, watched videos, and the coffee was OK, but it always felt like an effort, and the coffee was never quite right. Making good consistent coffee on a machine like this really is a hobby, and you need to have the time and patience to learn and apply the skills before you'll get consistently good results.

At the end of the day, I realised that in the morning before work, I'd rather have something pretty decent that I can make in a minute with froth milk included, then spend 10mins tweaking and tuning and cleaning up after.

I ended up selling my manual machine, going with the breville creatista plus and 'pod and parcel' pods, and haven't look back since. The coffee is good and it's just so damn convenient.

My two cents: get a machine like this is you have the time and interest in picking up a new hobby. Otherwise, consider other options.

    • +1 on the breville creatista plus as the PODs are now made by everyone so prices are amazing! Genuine ones (Nespresso have great subscription plan that gives you 10% credit and you can spend, or save it off a machine if you so choose, or even get a machine with low upfront on it too) ~ Pods last WAY past the use by date too as they are sealed in high nitrogen @boxing.

Quick to make, its worth going to the plus over the UNO and milk is perfectomundo!

Im a coffee snob, I have the Vertuo, Map, and Breville the Barista Touch (would by the Pro now if I had too replace it) and ill get the creatista plus for the cheapo pods over its under-patent, Vertuo replacment. I try a lot of beans, roasters and pods, its the clean water filtered and milk that make 99% of the difference IMO.

  • Does anyone know if you can you do afterpay code, and then pay with eBay gift cards?

    • +2

I paid $500 with gift cards and then the rest Afterpay.

  • I think this is out of stock right now

    • eBay sent me a delivery date of 1-3 SEP.

      They might've been ozbargain'd.

  • This was my first experience with home expresso machine. Was a pleasant experience with sweet deal. The first cappuccino I made today was great. Really recommend this machine. Thanks for sharing this great deal.

  • I’m waiting for same/similar price deal without afterpay etc complication. Fingers crossed for the Father’s Day.
