  • Homecast Australia have pretty much all but disappeared… As much as I loved mine until it died, I wouldn't get another one…

  • I paid around $500 for this tv recorder so feeling ripped off. Easy to use and has been very handy recording favourite shows and then fast forwarding through the endless commercials.

  • Does it have an A/V-in port, so you can record from other sources too?

  • Can u do a better price on the refurb mtv4000 pretty please ! :)

  • As this is a Freeview device it is not possible to transfer the recordings to PC etc, is this correct?

      From manual… YES
"10.3 File Transfers To/From a USB Storage Device
The HT8200 can copy files to or from directly connected FAT32 formatted USB devices." but FAT32 USB HDD!!! So 2009.

  • HT8200PVR - latest in PVRs from 2009 with VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display)!!!
Latest Firmware update on Homecast site: November 2009
    • Power Consumption: Operating - 28W
    • Power Consumption: Standby - 8W to drive those VFD!! (from manual)

  • FYI for those that purchased or have one of these you can load the firmware from the HT8000 to remove the 'freeview' restrictions.

You just need to edit the firmware file for the different model number. http://members.optusnet.com.au/nis200sx/

You will loose access to any recordings you currently have on the PVR, it also removes Dynamic Channel Management.

You can get different firmware versions for the PVR's from this site http://pvr-tools.com/firmware/Homecast, it has pre-modded firmware in the HT8200 section.

I have loaded up a self modded version of firmware 1053A from the HT8000 section and it is working fine.
