Dewalt is most likely discontinuing this so they're running them out at this price.

  • I'm no tradie so this is a genuine question. Are these that much better than the brushless Bosch Blue? Doesn't seem like much of a runout price to me…

Being a cheapskate I bought one of these Makita knock-offs when they were on sale for AU$46 a while back, it does a fine job…
    https://www.banggood.com/DTW300-2-in1-18V-800N_m_-Li-Ion-Bru…

I use it with a $20 Dewalt to Makita battery adapter like this:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/164817795054

It's a little bulky with the battery adapter but fine for my occasional use…. I went this way because I have 3 x 5AH Dewalt batteries and I wanted to try some of these knock-off tools but I rather not buy into another battery system…

Having the adapter also allows me to use one of the cheap arse $26 Makita knockoff toy chainsaws for odd one handed pruning (when the petrol and Dewalt chainsaws aren't suitable):

Those Makita knock offs are great value for lower torque applications, but there’s not a chance in hell it would match this Dewalt’s torque output. Let alone do 800Nm as claimed on the Banggood listing.

I agree 100%, you get what you pay for…I don't use an impact wrench enough to justify a name brand one but this one is fine for what I need …

The only thing I have to compare it against is my little 200NM Dewalt impact driver and it has a shit load more torque than that, so it's not a gutless toy, but yeh, I don't believe the claimed 800NM… I got the "B" version that is hex and 1/2" socket, you have to turn the power down and be careful with hex bits, it just snaps them, lol

        I think the genuine Makita is about 500NM, 800NM peak/breaking torque…

      • Just did a brief video for you, the first 2 are "Bob Jane" tight, the 3rd was as tight as I could do it up with a standard X wheel brace:
        https://youtu.be/4FhXOrRmaA8

I should also mention, it's a hog-ring and it's a bit of an effort to get the socket over the ring, no doubt it will loosen up with use…

  • Thanks OP; was waiting for a local price to be close to Amazon's. Got one (well I got it price matched from Total Tools which delivers it for free)

Coming up as $359 for me. Could someone upload a receipt?

    • Wow - that's gone back up. Was definitely $237.88 when the OP posted it

    • It’s 303 in store (tool shop assistant confirmed it on her scanner) but clicked and collect in store is still 237.88. Just bought it in store via click and collect.

    • Yep, looks like back up to $359 here as well.

Still sale price till wed I got two today

Bendigo store removed the sign early but still did the price

  • It's back to $237.88. Did bunnings get OzBargained, thus older price loaded?

    • Instore till wed can get them cheep

  • Got it. Now decision time.

Is this or the Makita DTW300Z the better option?

I know this has the auto stop function, but can it be set to different levels of torque? I.e. the Makita lowest setting goes to max 90Nm (which is roughly what I am after), which means I don't need to use a torque wrench to check my torque.
