  • My OG .8kg Philips is still going strong after 3 years and 3 x a week use. Waiting for it to die before upgrade in size for growing family.

I wonder how the electronics go with the heat and oil over time? Mine is the analogue version.

interesting point - i have the non digital white XXL - i pulled the trigger on this for my dad - I will report in a couple of years!

    • Same here, I have analog 0.8 version, still going strong. The only drawback is I have to make multiple cook for family members.

      • We've had ours for over 2 years we don't use it that often maybe once or twice a week but we've cooked a few of roast pork were it's on for over an hour at a time, no worries so far.
Note after doing the 1st pork in it she said she will never do a roast pork any other way we put it outside so no smoke or smell, leave it in there to rest after cooking and then just place the airfryer parts in the dishwasher to clean basically no mess and the crackling has been perfect everytime

Looks at airfryer in the kitchen… Looks at the pigs in the pigsty… Grins… Thanks for dinner idea.

You are in for a long wait. Mine has been working perfectly fine for almost 10 years and I upgraded to this one anyway earlier this year.

  • Have the 9651 version which arrived recently. Wife is loving it. Very easy to clean and heaps of oil drops out.

Not sure what the difference though with 9650 but I think one has more accessories.

The analogue version of this was 249 on amazon prime day from memory. For anyone who wanted to wait to see if it happens again on black Friday etc

Cashrewards has a "up to $15% cashback" offer for Myer between 10am and 2pm so may end up a bit cheaper with cashback. Worth a look to save a little extra!

Updated the Myer post with this..hard to understand what % cahsback will apply though.

      • Or if it woudl get tracked at all

      • I'm assuming it'll fall under the general merchandise which is 8%.

        • It's under Entertainment which is same 8%. The small print says electronic items under Home & Entertainment are under Entertainment. Appliances are under Home. Not Super clear though. Ppl could easily think 15% for Home applies.

    • ok finally end up with 297.03,, thanks

We've got a XXL airfryer. We usually just call it the oven

    • Are you happy with it? Keen to get one

      • Yes, it's the best on the market. Amazon sells the analog XXL for $234 during big sales which is basically the same shit.

  • We have this one and we cannot live with out it. Not sure what the differences are between this one and our one.
HD9861/99 AIRFRYER XXL DIGITAL SMART BLACK

    • That is a premium version.

      • Yours has sensors that recommend a cooking time and temperature based on the weight and volume of food in the basket. It sounds super handy but I’ve also seen mixed consumer reviews as to how accurate they are. How do you find yours ?

  • For those with spare QFF points, it's also 25% off at the Qantas Rewards Store. Originally ~87k points, now 65k points with 25% points discount (plus delivery). It sounds like you can also claim the $50 cash back redemption too (although I'm yet to go through the process).

    • It’s still a terrible deal bro. 65k is a gimme $500 at least on the Ozclassifieds.

  • I bought a 7L air fryer from kmart recently for $119 and wow its been great! You can cook pies sausage rolls chicken pieces in 15 mins and even cooks a perfect roast dinner and the vegies are fantastic. Best $120 I've spent as it cooks so quick and the end result is fantastic and much easier than using our large oven which is a bugger to clean and consumes more electricity.

I was look at the phillips XXL everyone states its just built better than the kmart one, but bang for your buck the kmart one is better.

    • I got one from Kmart too, works very well except food started to stick to the basket after a couple of months. Very annoying!

  • We have one at work…..

It is worth the extra coin, silent.

    • Yeah kmart one is pretty damn noisy tbh

  • Myer also have it at the same price.

  • Is it worth going the digital version over the analog dials? Is there any other difference? The naming conventions of these are terrible.

  • Thanks op. Good price plus 50 cashback. Nicee

  • The very first review on that Amazon page is “caught fire”. Hard no from me.

  • Does this one have rotisserie function?

    • +1

No - it has a patented swirly air thing going on tho - heaps faster & more even than my 1st air fryer which was a kogan

      • I think I have same Kogan one as you, the one with two shelves where everything sticks? So that's good to know, thanks. How does the Philips go with sticking? Any recommended accessories?

        • The Kogan I had was a single shelf and was a good entry point to air fryers however did not last longer than a year considering we use it at least four or five times a week. The Philips one is heaps better non-stick and it’s not like a spray on Teflon kind of non-stick - I’ve had it for a year now and it shows no signs of wear and tear, Although the element needs a good clean every few weeks so it doesn’t start to smoke when on full heat

  • Mrs has been bothering me about getting an airfryer for ages so i've finally caved, thanks OP.

  • It should be a rule that every household own an airfryer. I have the old analogue one from like 10 years ago or whatever still going strong.

    • It should be a rule that every household own an airfryer.

      And some eneloops. Just because.

  • Is this the largest in the range?

    • Yes - other brands have bigger oven style ones

      • Thanks for your reply!

  • Stacked with WELCOME15. Thanks OP!

For those who are wondering what this is and if you should get it…

This thing is a straight replacement for your oven if the stuff you cook fits.

First of all, it has 0s warm up time, so there's no energy wasted heating a big enclosure. It's excellent for summer so your a/c wont need to fight the oven and wont warm up your house. You can even bring it outside if the stuff you cook smells. Huge energy saving considering the amount of time and energy it needs to heat up an oven. Best for preping kids lunch box if you want to stuff junk like nuggets and fish fingers.

This is a minature super fan forced oven. It can bake anything the oven can do as long as it fits. The salmon I cook with is most juicy and tender compared to my $$$$$ oven. I don't know why but it's just magic. It does it so well. My oven gets used very little nowadays.

It's considered easy to clean, as if washing dishes. Get it no regrets.

This is what I should have written in the description 🤣

      • I was about to add to my original comment but it's replied so make new one here…

It's really easy to clean I dont know why Philips recommend the dishwasher.
This thing is over 2200Watts so becareful when using it in camping sites with mains extension.

I have the analog version. Heat and electronics dont do well so I suggest sticking to analog. It makes cool timebomb sound when it's ticking. Also, don't fill it up to the brim where the heating elements is, it will start a good fire.

  • chicken wings …

i stopped experimenting with the thing since i tried air fried chicken wings, if i even think of using air fryer, i end up buying chicken wings … it's a real problem!!

  • The price has gone up to $424.

    • yes Myer deal is over :)
