Neg because misleading 24mb/s refers to read speed yet they put the image there to confuse people and also in the description mentions 24mb/s transfer speeds. I guess that's technically correct since when reading the card you're transferring data from the card. But still deliberately misleading people.

    ps, shopping square. Nuff said

The Lexar deal here is still going should work out below $40 delivered: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/63431

Mine took 2 weeks to get here from the UK, so only if you are not in a rush. I tested the card and it complies with Class 10 specs, about 12MB/s write speed, much faster read speed for large files.

But the difference here is that these new 32GB Samsung cards have reasonably good 4k r/w speeds, beaten only by the Sandisk 32's (which have woeful sequential speeds). eg. this Samsung is 100x faster at random writes than your Lexar.

In summary this Samsung is the best all round card at the moment. Having the top end sequential speeds, but not at the severe expense of random speeds. More results here…

I guess the extra random write speed is useful, but only depending on your application.

For example, I use my Lexar 32gb in my SGS2. The SGS2 has plenty of internal memory, so I don't need to install apps to the micro SD card. I instead use the micro SD card for storing music and videos - for which random write access has no impact.

If however you want to install it in something like the HTC Desire which has very limited onboard memory, then yes it probably will be useful. However I did try the Lexar in my Desire and it worked fine.

  • I was looking at SDHC cards today and came across this 16GB class 10 for $15.99 at eBay.

    Seems cheap. No-name brand.

:S Ebay and memory are a bad combo.

    • If you buy a SD card from eBay you are just about certain to be scammed.

These days, many people know how to check the genuine capacity of SD cards, but very few think to check the speed…or know how to.

'High speed' cards like Class 10 etc, sell for a premium over slower cards.

Like the fake Syma remote-control helicopter scams on eBay, you can always tell how lucrative these frauds are by the sheer number of people selling them as the genuine item.

And when you catch out these crooks they simply deny it and offer a full refund if you withdraw your complaint or negative feedback.

If you're dumb enough to return their fake item they simply sell it again.

Found it cheaper on eBay from sellers with excellent feedback, located in Australia. e.g.

I was in Korea not long ago… These things are like $40 from Samsung store lol
The reason why I didn't bother to import to make $5 off each memory card…

  • $49.25 delivered from Crazysales. Just bought one to try. $49.20(!) without the adapter…
If all you buy are memory cards they'll come in the regular mail. Haven't had anything from CS go astray thus far.

Heed stumo's post above as it relates to Sandisk's modest class 4 sequential speeds but good 4k's, relative to Lexar (and others) lousy class 10 random 4k's. Simple take-home message is that the new Samsungs do seem to strike a balance that has been lacking up until now.
