      Apologies, my first post, updated

  • Hard to consider any Android Wear watches with the Galaxy 4 and Wear OS3 just announced.

    • +2

This will get updated to Wear OS 3 in 2022. But Samsung looks to have LTE models which look good and some decent health features however the battery is much smaller and no dual display which this watch has.

      • The dual display is nice… But it's a longggg time to wait in the tech space for an upgrade.. a year??!!

        • Likely more like 6 mths away but software looks like it's still beta on the Samsung watch 4. I think the major here is do you need LTE and larger storage. If so get the Galaxy Watch 4 for $549. If you only need Bluetooth and prefer better battery life than the Ticwatch Pro is a great deal.

        • Wear OS3 isn't coming out until 2022, so you're waiting for the OS to launch, not for the watch to get the update.

          • @Joker042: We were comparing it to the Galaxy Watch 4… which has Wear OS3 now.

            • @GuniGuGu: Ah, cool, I'm out of date, last I heard we hard to wait another year of Wear OS3.

Yeah, the year will be a bit more of a pain now!

Ohhhh ffs, literally only ordered one of these last night…

With how disappointing the Samsung watch looks for non Samsung users, and battery life only advertised as 40 hours, this seems like a good option

It's annoying for sure when that happens, but as you say also annoying that many of Samsung's new Galaxy Watch 4 features don't work unless you are connected to a Samsung smartphone. Enjoy your TicWatch.

  • Best price I have seen it.

  • +2

I have this watch and highly recommend it. I have other android smart watches and this watch feels the best and has tight integration with my Samsung Note 20 Ultra.

    • Good to know, I am also rocking a Samsung Note 20 Ultra. Currently got a Fossil Gen 5 and sick of the shit battery life on it.

  • Heard galaxy watch 4 doesn't have Google assist. If so this is a better option with bigger battery and SW supports

Hope they release LTE version on amazon soon

    • ehhh… I'll bet the Galaxy Watch 4 will get assistant before the TicWatch gets Wear 3.
Let alone all the other benefits and muchhhhhh better performance.

      • and 3 or 4 times the price….

        • -4

eh… $100 more for the non-lte version. Not much more of a stretch for all the future benefits like soc, support, health tracking, updates….

@GuniGuGu: Really? im reading an estimate of $499 for the small 40mm LTE. Regardless, you seem keen on the galaxy 4 judging from above. That is fine but there is nothing wrong with these watches that have been rated among the best with every review. I am actually failing to see any benefits that make me jump over a samsung watch at all. Wireless charging is all id prefer. The ticwatch has one of the best chips available, is super snappy and gets solid review. For this price it is a bargain.

@worthy1: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-watch4-40m… (non-lte, which is basically like this watch)

As a longgg time Android wear user, performance has been it's weakpoint for waaaay too long. Samsung is miles ahead of Qualcomm in this space.
Furthermore we all know screens are super important on watches. Being able to read it outside is a big deal. Lastly beyond all the added health measurement improvements, give me a supported device (Wear OS3) over something that wont see an update for a year, any day of the week.

My last ticwatch died 2 months ago, so I've been dying to replace it for a while… I've followed this space pretty closely over the last few months. There is no question outside of an Apple Watch, the Samsung Galaxy 4 is the best smart watch on the market. Every review basically says the same thing too. For $100 it should be a no brainer.

Why save a $100 on an outdated watch? Qualcomm have already hinted at new wearable chips for next year, so yeah, the current lineup outside of Samsung is in a bad place imo.

              • @GuniGuGu: Yes and then the LTE is meant to be an extra $100, infact it is according to JB - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-watch4-40m… with the 44mm closer to the Ticwatch size being $549.

lol this is by no means an outdated watch. And by wont see 'an update for a year' you mean an update to OS3. It still gets updates for its current OS if needed. There is nothing wrong with the current Wear OS to not be able to wait this touted 'year' and the fact the watch will become even more better than the reviews is currently getting is incentive to me, you get a new watch in a year essentially because the chip is fast enough.

I like samsung, i have my S21 Ultra and i still dont get excited by their watches, reviews for the 4 have done nothing to make me jump for it at all and i definitely dont see the extra $220 value in the Galaxy watch 4. Each to their own, i was expecting (wanted) more from Samsung.

  • hhmmm.. my last 2 tic watch pro died within a year,

the first one in warranty, and the second, which replaced the warranty, in about 7 months

but they did offer me a 30% coupon on this watch, nearly 90 bucks off.

anyone know if that stackable to this?

    then i might get it?

    cheers

  • Wasn't tic watch the one s giving away their watch if you hit some hiit exercise goals? How did people end up going with that?
