  • Direct competitor to those group buying sites… possibly even to OzBargain itself. This will be interesting.

    • It is direct competition to group buying sites only and it is Free for Dealers to post their offers.

  • Spam???? Definitely not a "deal" !

    • How is that not a deal? Can you please explain it to me? :)

      • What can I purchase from discounton.com.au at this very second?

        • This is an offer for merchants to list the best deals and you will not purchase any deals from us as they are paid direct to the Merchant. Please ask me any more questions as it is very unfair to neg something that is aimed at helping businesses and consumers with no cath at all.

      • Your trying to promote your business (which will fail.) Your not offering any prodcuts, your really only offering a competition to enter in and free coupon points, although you dont have any products to offer, except from other sites. Your like a reseller of discounts sites.

        • Actually there are deals posted already for Melbourne if you check and there will be hundreds more before launch.

        • There will be hundreds of offers soon every day as we are telemarketing businesses around Australia. We aim to have what you want when you want every day.

        • No we are getting offers from Merchants and rewarding them so you the users can get the best offers. Egg before the Chicken. :) Rewarding the best deals so you can get the best deals.

  • Definitely not a deal.

    • I am so confused.. we are rewarding the best deals posted for free for users and voted up with 4500 weekly giveaway. That is not spam and 100% a deal. Please read and revoke your vote

      • +1

I would like to buy one of you weekly giveaways, what is the price and does it include postage?

        • We are giving away $500 each week to the merchant that posts the best deal for customers to reward them. I think you may have misunderstood the offer.

        • Believe me, i have not misunderstood anything.

So, is postage included in that $500?

  • Spam

  • So..basically..you ask us to leave ozbargain and move to your site? How dare you…

    • No… this is a Daily Deal competitor.. completely different then ozbargain. Please read it give it a fair chance as you have misunderstood. Ozbargain does not have group buying deals. totally different

  • Competition (yes I read you said it's not a competition), moved to forums.

    • No..this is not a competition it is a giveaway decided by you the users..

      • So like the Australian Idol or Big Brother competition. They are synonyms.

  • No bargain.

    • LOL.. $500 a week to the most popular posted offer for customers is not a bargain? LOL

      • +1

Question, would you allow Ozbargain to post up a "deal" on your site offering money for the best daily deal to be posted on Ozbargain? (and hence driving potential business away from you) Then, argue with you that it is a Daily deal because they are only offering that money today?

        • Of course, we allow everyone to post their deals and if ozbargain have a coupon offer they can post it any time. It is completely different then ozbargain. It is a direct competitor to scoopon, groopon, spreets etc. Businesses post their offer, not users.. users can not post unlike ozbargain. Also they are able to decide how many they do, etc. please read what it is before passing judgement as it is completely different then you are thinking.

        • Ozbargain is a business.
So they are free to post on you site.

Again, it is not me who is misunderstanding anything

      • Maybe you're targeting the wrong audience here, as I assume most users here are customers rather than Reps for businesses, hence why it may be viewed as spam.

As for the 5 FREE Coupon Points- sort of worthless untill there's decent stuff.
Wish your site all the best though.

        • Thanks, we already have quite a number of deals in Victoria but are expecting a few hundred deals to be live before launch.

  • It is definitely a competition. Everyone posts a deal. Only the winner (best deal) gets the $500. Does this not sound like a competition to you???

    • So do you think its a bad idea for us to reward the best deals posted for users? Happy to take any advice onboard

      • In my opinion rewards will work for the users (buyers of vouchers), not for the businesses - at the end of the day business is expecting sales from you, not a gift voucher. If they won't see any sales - they would not upload anything ever again. TrueLocal has free deals for businesses - featuring deals on a home page - check it out. It's a big thing to go against Groupon, Spreets, etc - these guys have money and more importantly 500K databases of users - they guarantee sales and that's why businesses sign up with them for 30,40,50%.

        • We reward the businesses and users and are launching a Australia Wide Advertising campaign to bring the traffic to the Merchants and guarantee customers. The difference is we don't take up to 50% of the poor struggling buinesses profit and we dont hold the merchants money as they are paid directly by cutomers at Point of Sale. We already have 100,000 users on our databse as a sister site to: www.esold.com.au which will be getting the deals sent to them in weekly emails at the bottom of the esold email.

        • esold.com.au

DO YOU SHARE MY EMAIL ADDRESS AND/OR PERSONAL DETAILS WITH ANYONE?
You can be certain that the information we receive from you, and about you, will be treated as strictly confidential and will never be shared with any other party; other than as required in order to send you our Daily eMail Alerts, “Special VIP Deal” eMails, Process your Online Payments (Credit Card Providers and PayPal) and to Ship your Products (Australia Post & other Courier Companies from time to time). We will NEVER Share, Rent, Give Away or “Sell” any of your information to any other 3 rd Party.

So how is DISCOUNT ON INTERNATIONAL PTY. LTD. getting my information from ESOLD AUSTRALIA PTY. LTD.

      • Strange, for some reason I can't reply to you last message. Anyway, if you really trying to help businesses - I just wish you luck and all the best in your new venture.

        • Thanks.. we are all about helping small businesses. The other group sites are damaging smll businesses by taking their profits. Strange I also can not reply to scatman00 above. As a sister site to: www.esold.com.au it will be added to the bottom of each email just like scoopon is added to Catch of the day email.. so we will never share the information with anyone else. :)

  • Clearly you dont understand why everyone has neg'd this or what qualifies as an Ozbargain bargain

    • We thought it was a great idea to get the best deals from merchants to reward the best deals as voted by users. Maybe we were wrong? I thought we could make customers the real winners I am open to suggestions.

  • Nothing wrong with the concept, but people on ozbargain expect rewards and discounts directed at them- the buyers.
We, the consumers, don't care about you giving money to merchants and we expect every post here to be (directly) beneficial for us, which is why ozbargainers don't like this post. It doesn't reward us (consumers), even though ozbargain is a site aimed at consumers. We feel a little cheated when we read the $500 in the title and clicked in.

You just posted in the wrong place, wrong audience, that's all. Or maybe you can reword it to aim it at the consumers, point out the discounts they can get, etc, and not talk about the $500 giveaway to merchants.

  • Makes me smile at just how black and white some folk really are…..
"We, the consumers"…… like when we log on to ozbargain we lose all of our other roles/attributes….

Could it be possible?…. that there may be merchants who are ozbargain members??? or, indeed ozbargain members who might be merchants??

Should we disallow post like this www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64650 …. because we are consumers, not photographers?
    or
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64722 because we are consumers, not students?
    or
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64711 because we are consumers, not international soccer stars?…..

When Richard Branson buys himself a beer….. he too is a consumer!!….. Mind blowing stuff eh?

    phunny….

    • All I can say is that there does seem to be some funny logic involved here. :)
Lets see, if you reward the Merchants for putting up the best deals than the consumers get the very best deals and be rewarded witth the best savings. Right? Seems logical. and to top it off there is a giveaway of 5 free coupon downloads for each new customer signed up that is great for the customer. This site is about great deals such as restaurant meals, hairdressing, flights etc posted by merchants in direct competition with group buying sites that rob the Merchants and don't care about the customers..

      • For transparency purposes as mentioned before, handelbert and discounton are affiliated (same person?).

My 2 cents with this deal is it's too lengthy. A wall of text doesn't convey a simple and curt message to people. This is the second deal that discounton posted and has been received in the same manner (the first was requested for removal). I do hope the best for this company as I do with all but it's just an odd concept. Small businesses are always looking to increase business. Enticing them with a $500 giveway just seems shortsighted in a businesses point of view. Small businesses want results not gimmicks. You really have 2 parts to this deal.

Part 1. Businesses owners can post their voucher/group buy deal for a change to win $500. 100% a competition.
Part 2. 5 free coupon points to new sign ups. A deal although not that great.

Part 2 is strange. I need to buy a deal that permits me to buy a deal? Sorry that just over complicates it for me.

What I do like is the fact that you pay the retailer directly for the deal. No dealing with a 3rd party coupon. If you forget or don't like it then nothing lost. Hopefully, you guys take some of the feedback from this thread as you have done a good job (IMO) with esold.
