    Amazing price.
    I got it for $574.
I knew I should have waited!!

    • +1

      Same šŸ˜«

      • +15

        Time Waits For No Man

        • +3

You were only killing time and it can kill you right back.

    • +1

I think $574 was the Sapphire, this deal is Premium but non-Sapphire.

If you select Sapphire it becomes $844 (including 5% discount).

They have complicated the product line and made it confusing. All of them are Pro, the extras features are Premium, then there's the Sapphire. But Sapphire comes with Premium features.

Would make more sense to call them:

      • Fenix 6
      • Fenix 6 Pro (or Premium) - with extra features
      • Fenix 6 Sapphire - the ultimate
      • +4

No, mine was the non sapphire

      • I'll pipe in here:
The extra cost for sapphire is 100% worth it! I've been rocking the Fenix 5 Sapphire for almost three years, now. I have logged over 6,000km of activities in that time. The screen is still pristine - not a mark on it.

      • There's also fēnix 6X - Pro and Sapphire and Solar editions.

      • They are following Lenovo and IKEA to keep people confused.

  • +9

Ordered from Kogan last night with targeted 10% for 450. But I've cancelled it. Much prefer to order from Amazon

    • +10

Ruslan v Bezos, a no win situation.

      • +5

At least with Amazon I know I'll get it at the date promised and far better return policy. Not thinking of the whole Macro Economics just me :)

  • Hi peeps. I always see this sell out, is there more features over the galaxy watch?

Any help would be great from owners of this or had both?

    • +11

Itā€™s a completely different product/target audience. This is a good watch if youā€™re a runner.

    • +5

Generally less smart phone features (no apps, limited number of watch faces), but many, many more fitness features, and much better battery life (around 12-30 days depending on use)

      • +6

Garmin is a fitness device with smart watch features where as Apple/Samsung watches are smart watches with fitness features.

      • -1

It has apps, on the Garmin store.

    • It's also worth thinking about what features you're interested in. Many of the ones on the Garmin watches work great, but some not so much, and a few seem to be works of fiction.

      I.e. in my experience:
      - running/walking metrics, heart rate, tracking, elevation, compass etc. work really well.
      - Sleep metrics are all over the place (thinks I'm in deep sleep at times I'm replying to work emails in bed [ok maybe fair]), stress and 'body battery' metrics seem fanciful, watch seems to underestimate effect of strength training, etc.
      - The map and the music features work as intended but they're quite clunky to use.

Also, Garmin pay doesn't work with some banks (i.e. I'm with ING and can't use it).

Overall, I accept these limitations and I really like the watch. But it could be a deal breaker for others.

  • +1

    Is it good for cyclists?

    • +8

Yeah it would have cycling as an activity and would track route, distance, time, HR, elevation AND, most importantly, sync to Strava.

    • +3

This guy does alot of cycling and reviews these types of devices:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHTEJjBGrGI

    • +1

Some particular people may have a view about the accuracy differences between using phone or Garmin device but for most people, I can't imagine it being a huge concern

      • For me personally not so much about the accuracy of phone v garmin, but more to do with preserving my phones battery life.

    • +2

It's excellent for cycling. You can download a Fitness App called Wahoo Fitness and display the heart rate on your phone toošŸ‘

      • Isn't Wahoo a direct competitor to Garmin?

        • Yes, but it's rebroadcasting the heart rate using open standards. You could use the Strava app directly if you wish. That said, Garmin Connect is really good - not so much for live activities, but great for tracking.

          • @cletus75: Does the Strava app broadcast heartrate? I like Wahoo as it shows the current speed etc

    • +1

I use the 6 pro for MTB and I find it amazing.
Besides the fact that my previous fenix 3 survived a few bad crashes :D

    • +2

It works but not as convenient as dedicated units, which you can mount on the stem or handlebar.

You may also want a cadence sensor, about $50.

Depends on your hand/wrist position, heart rate may not be accurate, so a strap heart rate monitor may be more desirable, about $80.

But this watch can definitely track your cycling activities.

    • Yep also connects with the power meters as well which a lot of cycling computers don't. I use mine on the bike with a bike mount and the garmin power meter pedals.

  • +7

I recently picked up the Garmin Forerunner 935 that was half price.
Its a good watch if you are running, which is why I got it.
Wondering what features this watch has that make it more expensive.

EDIT: Just googled my own question
    https://versus.com/en/garmin-fenix-6-pro-vs-garmin-forerunneā€¦

The Fenix 6 advantages are not huge over the Forerunner in my opinion. They include:
Monitors blood oxygenation levels << maybe that is one feature that Fenix has that the Forerunner doesnt.
12h longer battery life - GPS? 36hvs24h << this one is definitely an advantage, but see trade off in regards to weight.
    Has branded damage-resistant glass
    17.36% higher resolution? 260 x 260pxvs240 x 240px
50m higher waterproof depth rating 100mvs50m
Has irregular heart rate warnings 8.33% bigger screen size?
    1.3"vs1.2" Acquires GPS faster

However the Forerunner 935 is better in this regard
34g lighter 49gvs83g << That is a big different IMO
    0.8mm thinner? 13.9mmvs14.7mm
    5.44% less body volume 30.71cmĀ³vs32.4723cmĀ³
    Monitors perspiration
    Supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac)
    Has social features

    • Thanks for going to the trouble.
I think if I'm gonna spend that much on a watch I want it to have more functionality with my phone. It is tempting though

    • I have the fenix and forerunner 245. For running i use only the forerunner due to weight, the fenix feels very heavy after a while. For my daily and other sports and hiking I use the fenix due to features. I really bought this for the maps for hiking and backup mapping.

      • Same. I have both the 935 and Fenix 6 Pro. For running, I use the 935. It is much lighter and has better GPS, so gives more accurate pace readings. For everything else, I use the Fenix.

    • +1

I had the 935 and upgraded to the 945 which is essentially a Fenix 6 pro in a lighter plastic case. The main improvements for me Are:
      - the extra battery live for activities (I run ultras and so need something to last a long time).
      - The other big addition is mapping. This is great whilst running the trails on routes your not familiar with. It has full topo maps so you can see exactly where you are going.
      - Garmin pay
      - Music
-There are also some improved metrics etc which it has over the 935 which is nice.

  • Has anyone used this while they golf? How does it hold up?

    • I currently use the Fenix 5 Plus for golf and is great, so this would only be an improvment. :)

    • Fine.
In fact it has a Golf activity, so it'll show distance to green, shot tracking etc.

  • +1

    Good for golf?

  • Just bought it, can anyond confirm this is an Australian model, and not an overseas import? (Think its relevant for garmin pay)

    • shoundn't be the same for every country with regards to Garmin Pay?

  • Good price, I paid $499 when the previous deal come up.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/642137

  • good watch. been using it everyday along with TicWatch

  • +1

Can anyone tell me the differences between: Small, Medium and Large sizes please

  • +1

Thanks, was trying desperately to enter codes from the JB thread to get it for 474, and now this came up, cheers!

  • MY GOD WHERE IS THE 6x SAPPHIRE DEALS?! -cries-

Living these deals though! Seems like the Fenix 7 may be droppin' and clearing that excess stock.

  • I called JB HiFi to price match to $499, but they won't budge on the additional 5% Prime discount.

  • Really want the 6S to hit these prices. The 6 is just too big for me. Technically the 6S is a cheaper watch…I guess JB and Amazon just don't have the excess stock?

    • I believe the 6 Pro and the 6S Pro are usually the same price.

Have the 6S Pro and love the size and how it doesnt shout "look at me" when I was traveling abroad lol

    • I was in the same boat, but so glad I got the Fenix 6 pro instead of the 6s; The 6s is not masculine enough and the extra screen size and battery life are welcome. Plus, there's a heap more bands to choose from in the 6 (22m) range (I got the pro with the JB 20% code, and bought the chestnut leather band - it looks awesome). I'm actually thinking the 6X may not have been too big in the end either!

    • if you plan to use maps, 6s is just too small for that

  • -1

    I don't need it but…

    • Me too…

    • +3

Not a bargain if you spend money on something you don't need. Put the $ on something you actually need + want! Or towards a higher level spec of something you do need + want.

  • +1

I hate coming to this site and seeing items for sale being cheaper and cheaper then when I bought it….

  • +1

Definitely get the Sapphire if you can. I've still got my fenix 3 sapphire from 2016 going strong no need to replace. The amount of times I have smashed that watch face against various railings and walls or poles I'm surprised it remains unscathed.

  • You get 50% off code from AIA as well on Fenix series

  • +1

Remember those times refreshing the request page waiting for people to drop some JB coupons? Yeh.. lol

  • I'm thinking about getting a Garmin (or any other fitness tracking watch) to help get more active/back into running. Can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative? The Forerunner 55 looks great, but only $100 cheaper than this one. Or there are the cheap other versions on Kogan etc..

    • +1

Forerunner 245 has gone for $250 in the past iirc

    • +1

Garmin 245M if you want music as well. Or buy an arm band or waist band for $15 and shove your phone into it

    • +2

Use your phone with Strava for a little while until you're back into it.

I got into jogging again in mid July. Got super interested in GPS watches and started researching them, thinking I needed one to make the most of my running. Found it a little overwhelming so ended up telling myself to stop looking until end of August and if I'm still running I'll consider buying one then.

End of August approaches. I'm fully into the running. Really enjoying it. Discovered running is easily enjoyable and doable without a GPS watch. Might still buy a watch one day but it's hardly a necessity.

I do track my runs on strava with my phone however, and phone sits in a running belt.

  • Has anyone had any negative experiences with the CorningĀ® GorillaĀ® Glass DX lens? I currently have Fenix 5 Plus with sapphire and would like to know if it is a huge downgrade…

    • +1

I ummed and ahhed about it and went with the Gorilla when it was on sale six months ago (I couldn't justify almost double the price for something that would date). It's been good so far - I have accidentally clipped it on a few brick walls and it hasn't scratched yet. There's obviously an element of luck to it, though…

  • That's the cheapest price for the Fenix I've ever seen. Not sure if the people buying are actually multisport users cause this device is very comprehensive and would come with a lot of features that would be relevant if you would intent for multisport. I stuck with the Forerunner series cause all the features in this device for running is sufficient.

    • +1

Most of the features in this watch most people wonā€™t use. However for the price it is a steal and brings it more in line with rrp of other cheaper forerunner watches.

  • +1

im guessing this is not for the sapphire version. you really really really need sapphire. i banged my mineral crystal and it cracked :( I have several other watches that have sapphire and banged more often and harder, and is still not cracked or scratched.
no one plans on shattering the glass, it just happens and you don't know when it happens. So i always and only buy sapphire glass watches.

  • Is this any good for freediving to 10-15m?
The descent is too expensive for me.

    • +1

In terms of tracking? No - freediving is not one of the specialist activities that is supported.
But it's waterproof to those depths, will measure HR, calories burnt, distance, etc just as a basic activity being tracked.

  • +1
  • Please make sure you have wide wrists for this, it's a big watch at 47mm face size.

I've seen adults with kids size wrists with this on and it looks terrible.

    • +2

not really, i have rather small wrists and its fine…..if you plan on using maps you definitely need a larger watch

      • Same, i have smallish wrists and its fine. Best to try on yourself and decide. I originally thought it would be too big but it was fine once tried on in store.

  • This or the Galaxy watch 4 ?

    • totally different product line
      Garmin - fitness
      Galaxy w4 - smart watch

      • Ohhhh so the Garmin isn't a smart watch? It's probably out of my price point anyway but thank you for the help

        • It is but it's more focused on fitness than being a smartwatch while the Galaxy Watch focuses more on being a smart watch than a fitness watch.

  • Must hold out for 7….must hold out for 7

  • Ordered. Thanks OP. Amazing price.

  • +1

Love Amazon, already ordered for $574 - 5%, to be delivered on Monday. Called them up just now and they are going to refund me the $75 instead of re ordering and returning.

  • OzB'ed

    • Un-ozB'ed

  • My girlfriend was looking at this the other day. Would anyone know how big this will be on a 5ā€ wrist? The smaller version isnā€™t at this price. Thanks.

    • -1

I have medium size wrists and it's fine. I think it would be fine for a female with smaller wrists plus the battery life is better than the 6s

      • Appreciate it. Iā€™ll run this by her, just in case before ordering one.

        • +1

          Massive on that size wrist

          • +1

@Tee Rex Arms: I agree, we checked the dimensions on the Garmin site and itā€™ll be huge for her. Might go with one of the forerunners that have pulse oxi.

  • Pass. Sapphire or X only

  • I am so glad I waited. I am so annoyed with my Fitbit ionic just died one day. The dreaded black screen for no reason.
Just one morning the screen failed to turn on.

  • Got mine delivered today. What a great smartwatch. Thanks OP…
